Well the new DX33 was delivered and I got her out and did a little mowing with it. I had been mowing for a while and then noticed oil on the hood, joystick and scattered here and there. I stopped to check it out and popped the hood and the underside of the hood was soaked in hydraulic oil. I searched all over and could not find any place where it had been leaking. I am wondering if the fluid was coming from the power steering fluid container. I put a whole hour on the unit. I guess we will make a trip to the dealer Tuesday to get it checked out.

I had a similar problem w/ my TC24 and it turned out to be loose hose connectors. The connectors in question are those that attatch the flexible hydro hoses to steel under the hood/tractor. It turns out that I had to properly tighten a couple over the course of the first 50hrs.

I had a hose loosen up on the oil cooler in front of the radiator. I had fluid everywhere and it was not real noticable where it cam from. Then saw that the screen in between the cooler and radiator was soaked, then narrowed it down from there. A few twists of a screwdriver and all fixed.
But all this fluid was under the hood, not where your is, I guess.

After further inspection I found a lot of oil around the fan shroud. I'll be diving into it a little bit more this this afternoon. What an oily mess I have under the hood. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Assuming the DX has a similar set up to the D modeles, there's a hydraulic oil cooler in front of the radiator. Where the hard lines connect to the cooler there are 2 rubber elbows which can leak when the tractor is running. These elbows expand quite a bit and there have been people who have had them crack in about 1 year and leak. Might want to check them out.

Remember that the hydraulic system is under very high pressure. Please be careful! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Mike,

Took the DX back to the dealer and looks as if the Power steering res was overfilled and shooting oil out of the little pin hole in the cap. After they cleaned the tractor up from all the oil I picked it up and took it home. I popped the hood and found that the radiator was mangled from someone that didn't know how to use a pressure washer. Called the dealer and he was less than happy and told me he would order a new radiator.....think I'll see if they will foot the installation for my first rear remote for the inconvenience....won't hurt to ask!!
