E-350 shifting issue

I would like to start off by saying that my tractor E-350 has been a great tractor so far (4 years @ 97 hours). I feel that Mahindra makes a quality and durable product.

Recently, I have started having problems shifting into 2nd or 3rd gears. The other gears reverse, 1st, and 4th work as expected. However when I try to shift into 2nd or 3rd, it is as if the shifter just will not go (like a brick wall). Any ideals or suggestions?

Would something like this be more of a clutch issue or something like a shift fork? There is no gear grinding, and the other gears work great.

After receiving no feedback, my next plan is to remove the top shifter plate to see if I can determine the cause of the binding with the 2nd and 3rd gear.

If anyone has a service manual for this model and would be willing to provide some guidance, please clue me in on what to look for when I pop the cover open. Does this model's shifter forks attach and lift out with the top plate?

It seems like your best alternative right now is to take off the top plate and take a look to see what is going on. It could be a fork problem.

I would at least go to the dealer and talk to the mechanics and see if they would let you take a look at the service/tech manual so you can see what's inside before you pull the cover. Or if it's too far to drive, see if they might fax/scan and email the proper pages from the manual. Might help tons trying to put it back together. Just a suggestion.

The shifting forks will lift straight up and stay with the cover. I hope this helps.

UPDATE!

Just in case that someone else comes across this issue in the future, I wanted to post an update to my original message.

I remedy the situation by spraying a couple of shots of WD40 at the base of the shifter. Apparently, for some reason the base of the shifter had ether dust,rust, and/or a combination of the two that was preventing it from shifting into 2nd and 3rd. After letting the WD40 soak in for a few minutes not only does the shifter shift into 2nd and 3rd, but it shifts a lot smoother into all of the gears. Works like new!

Prior to me acquiring the tractor it did sit outside for a brief period of time, which could explain why the base of the shifter had accumulated a hint of rust (I notice it once I had sprayed the WD40 to flush it out).

Over the weekend, I used the tractor to bush hog for 3 1/2 hours, and I am very pleased with the performance of the tractor. I would highly recommend the 25 series to anyone looking for a strong well built tractor.
