I am looking at the rotary cutter for EA. I would like to hear from current owners of the cutter. I don't need sponsors trying to sell me it. I am curious on how it cuts. I have herd from some people and seen the videos and the conclusion is that it does not cut very well. I know its a brush cutter and I know the finish brush cutters leave. Also how are changing the blades? Is it easy? I like EA as a company but they advertise no Chinese attachments but then talk about the gearbox being from China because they are not made in the US. I do not like the shield that they put on. I think chains should be standard. I would be willing to pay for then if they were included in the price. Also do they have replaceable skids? So current owners what do you think about your EA cutter?? CURRENT OWNERS ONLY PLEASE.

Hard to find anything other than a Chinese gearbox on a cutter in that price range. I see that you would be willing to pay more, but I suspect when you found the price difference, it would be painful. You could probably buy 3 or 4 replacement boxes to have on hand for the difference.

I dont have a EA cutter.

But it would help us to know just what you are looking for in a cutter?

Do you need a heavy duty cutter? Or is this just for pasture maintenance and grasses/weeds?

What size are you looking at. How many acres a year do you need to maintain.

The EA "extreme duty" tag is a bit misleading. Its nothing more than an average medium duty (lighter side of medium duty IMO) cutter. Nothing wrong with that if thats what you need.

I have some brush and grasses that I cut but I do have a lot of rocks in the fields and I do not want to destroy the cutter from them. I am looking at the heavier gauge cutters. I like the BB from woods but at 3500 it was too much. For some reason I liked Kodiak brand a long time ago but I cant seem to find too many dealers or people that have them. I have 20 acres and I am looking for a 5 footer.

A decent medium/heavy duty cutter is gonna run you north of 3K new from the larger brands like Bush Hog, Woods, Land Pride, Deere, etc...
If you can find a Kodiak or other smaller manufacturer that makes a comparable unit they will be priced a little lower if specked accordingly...
As mentioned earlier I am not aware of any manufacturers sourcing any gearboxes in the US anymore...
You may be able to find a used one on Craigslist if you are patient but decent ones are hard to find...
Most are beat to death...
I waited for quite a while and traveled 160 miles one way to get a Brown 472...
Have you looked on Tractor House?
Good luck and keep us posted...
Lots of experience here on the boards...

I bought a nice Woods BB72X recently on Craigslist for $1,300. I had to put a seal in the gearbox and new blades and have about $1,475.00 in a great bush hog (used it 12 hours Labor Day weekend). If you buy an off brand you may have a hard time finding parts in years to come (advice from my brother to me when I was looking). If you can be patient and search you can find a good used one. The guy sold the one I bought because he bought a new 10' and didn't need it anymore. Good luck!

agrisupply.com carries Kodiak rotary cutters.
Kodiak is owned by paladinattachments.
You can look up dealers on their web site.

I do not own an EA cutter but have considered one. It has a lot to offer. The Kodiak medium duty is also a pretty attractive unit.

I have a 48" EA cutter I use with my B7610. I use it to maintain approx. 2 acres of grass and unwelcome berry bushes that grow in one of my fields. I have hit several large rocks now and then, but no damage to the cutter. I have been very happy with it and with the service I received from EA (I also own a box scraper of theirs). Hope that helps.

Thanks. I guess the extreme duty name is a little misleading
