Looking to get a plow for my UTV-- Decided on the Eagle Brand as they make a mount for my UTV that most companies do not offer- So for my long paved driveway would you go with a Straight plow with Hydraulics or the V plow without Hydraulics- Also is it a pain to get out and change the pivot points on the V every time you want to go from V to straight to scoop- thanks for the advice-

Straight blade if you can control everything without doing it manually..

I would "go with" neither!
I would "go to" Florida!

Had an Eagle Vee plow a few years back mounted on a Deere 855 (Diesel) Gator.

I didn't use the "Vee" feature much since I normally wanted to push the snow to one side. This one was manual adjust that I bought used (and cheap). It worked well and I'm sorry I sold it.

To me, it's not a pain to get out and manually pivot the blade...it's only a minute to do this...and the expense of a hydraulic blade wasn't worth it to me. Also, the weight of the hydraulic units can lead to wear on the UTV's front end.

A UTV/Plow setup isn't very good for heavy snow (8-10 inches or more). You'll run out of traction...or, at least, I did. But for lighter snows, it's a great combination and fast.

Snow plowing can be tough on a UTV...be aware of that. And, if the winch is used to raise and lower the blade, you'll wear out the first foot or so of the wire rope. I swapped out my wire rope for a boat strap which worked much better. Also, it's better to have at least a windshield, if not a full cab.
That's my 2 cents...

A "V" would only be OK for the first snow event to 'open' the path.
A UTV simply lack weight for traction which U need to push sufficient snow.

If U insist on using your UTV I look for self contained front mounted snow blowers as a compromise solution, they exist.

BLOW that white stuff as far away as U can, plowing makes for berms that make for bigger drifts and that calls for more weigh and power.

I agree.. The self contained blower is the way to go on an ATV/UTV.. Less stress on the lighter machine and no banks to move..

I used a 7' Snowsport plow on the front of my RTV900 and it pushed great. The RTV900 weighs in at 2000 lbs though.

thks- Since here in NJ- we have not gotten deep snow for awhile so I am thinking the cost of a front end blower would be to much-Seems to be a pain I think to keep gettting out of the enclosed cab to switch the pins on the V all the time or am wrong- thanks for all the advice-

Nj and even southern NY gets snow thats really to wet most early and late season to blow real well. A plow has very few moving parts and works in slush- powder.

I went from streight to V plow on my truck. Il never own a streight blade again. Saves me roughly 30* on time and i can stack or move a whole pile across the driveway with next to no spillage. This means no snow tails to clean up later.
