Now that winter is here and seat time is extremly light (we don't get a lot of snow here), I got to thinking about the spring time and how unhandy it is to do the 50hr service once mowing and my kid's baseball season starts This lead me to think it might be advantagous to go ahead and do the 50 hr service "early" while the tractor has the mmm off and I have the time. Currently have approx 35 hrs on the tractor. Anyone ever do the 50hr service early? Would it be underminding the purpose?

Thanks,
Steve

On my old machine I changed the engine oil and filter at 25 hrs, but I waited the full 50 hrs to do the full service including changing the engine oil and filter again. I don't rack up the hrs super fast, so this worked out well for me. I can't really think of any reason that doing the service early would be bad, but you might want to check with your dealer just to make sure your doing the right thing in case you have any warranty issues later on.

I done mine at 54 hrs. I don't think it would be a problem + or - a few hours either way.

I use the 10% rule of thumb. Aviation uses 10% on pulling inspections early or late.

I did mine a little early but was cautioned not do it too far ahead because the fluids in a new unit are special to help break-in.

IMO, I would wait a little longer before performing the 50 hr service. Your HST and hydraulics probably haven't been worked enough to get all metal particles that are going to show up to appear yet. You may be changing the SUDT too early, since the next transmission fluid change isn't until the 400 hr mark.

Whether you go ahead and perform the service now or not, make sure you check the front axle fluid, if you haven't done this yet. A lot of BX series tractors were shipped low on SUDT in the front axle. After reading a post about this, I checked mine and I was 1 1/2 quarts low with only 8 hours on the tractor.

I have 46.6 hrs. on mine (purchased new delivered 7/1/08) (dont use in winter yet) and we are burried w/ snow right now, so really not using at all. I am going to do mine in mid Feb. and will have the same 46.6 hrs. then as I dont see any seat time :( in the next month. In speaking w/ my dealer who is very good he recomends doing it anytime from 45 to 55 hrs. as the best time. As others have mentioned its best to fully break in a little before changing all the fluids/filters, etc... Good luck

I'd wait. Depending on how long it took you to get the 35 hrs, you may be way up into summer or fall before you have to do it. If we have another dry summer it may be next winter.

I purchased the B3030 in May and only put 35 hours on it until October. I wanted to get my wheel spacers on for the winter so I could use tire chains. I called the dealer and he offered to install the spacers if I had him do the 50 hour service. Seemed like a good deal as my rear tires are loaded. He said that doing the service early wouldn't cause any problems. I had him do both and the tractor was ready for winter. Since then I have spent 20 hours plowing snow!

thavil,
You have good point, and I think I'll wait. I checked all the fluids after I took delivery of it and the front axle was full.

Thanks,
Steve
