Early morning cowboys

I was out early today, heard the dogs barking, and saw a horseback rider across the road.

Turns out, there was a couple of them, roundin' up some cows. It was still pretty hazy.

A little while later, after the sun had come up some, I noticed they were off in the distance. Trust me, they're there. This is with no zoom. See the line of trees way off on the horizon?

Yep, there they are. This is with the 8.3:1 optical zoom on my newish Nikon Coolpix. The picture, however, was taken in 640x480 mode so I don't have to bother resizing to post on the web.

And, this one is with the optical zoom multiplied by the 3:1 digital zoom, for a total of about 25:1. Still in 640x480; I wish I would have thought to take it again in 4 megapixel mode.
