I am looking at a L3130 currently. In order to get the tractor in and out of my shop, I will have to fold the ROPS. The tractor I looked at appeared to have bolts that would have to be removed to fold the ROPS. The NH tractors I have seen have pins that can be removed quickly. Can the Kubota be set up this way? What experiences has everyone had with this.

The Kubota folding ROP goes just a step further in that you will probably want a wrench to remove the bolts that have the pin going through them. You could simply put the bolt in hand tight and then pin it, but by tightening the bolt it gives you the ability to eliminate much of the squeak your likely to encounter. If I folded mine routinely, I would put it in hand tight and pin it, since I don't anticipate folding it anytime soon, I tighten all the bolts with a wrench and then pin it. Mine came with the FROP without asking for it. It could come in handy down the road for unknown right now. The little toolbox is handy for holding an adjustable wrench, wire cutters, various wrenches, electrical tape and the PTO cover. Rat

I did a search but because of my inneptness.....

anyway.. a long time ago, seems someone put some form of pin through the hole, with a spring/fender washer on the back side to keep it under tension and not rattle.

I tried to find the post and couldn't.. seemed a rather slick way to not only put a pin in, but to keep it from rattling and quick/easy to remove.

I asked for (and received) the folding ROPS just in case I needed it down the road. But the darn thing is a pain to fold. If I recall, the main bolt has a pin that is attached to a wire. You have to remove this first, then unscrew the bolt. At first I thought the bolt was just a pin held in by a cotter style device, but it isn't. And it's a long bolt at that. I'll have to assume this was done to eliminate the rattle I've seen mentioned here on TBN. If that's the case then the "fix" worked very well. I have not heard mine rattle at all - it's on there VERY tight. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I am a new owner of a L3130HST. Love the Tractor. This is the first tractor I have owned with folding ROPS. The ROPS is easy to fold. They are bolts that get pinned but the bolts have a handle and I just put in hand tight. So far no rattle. The little handles were small but I just welded on larger. Will show a pic as soon as I can. But like many have said DONT FORGET TO FOLD them down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hit the machine shed the 4th day I owned it.. No damage but having the wheels come up on the HST model tends to be ugly. Your foot jabs the pedal when the front end comes up and you are off for a ride you will never forget!.
Later.

Richard -- I did that on my L3010's ROPS. Won't fit into the garage with the ROPS up, but it was too much of a pain to raise and lower...especially for my wife.

I removed the original bolt and drilled out that captured nut so a hitch pin could fit. That worked, but rattled. So I added a large washer and a spring to maintain tension. It still rattles a bit if I hit a bump, but that I can live with.

Need pics?

Thanks. I plan on taking your pics to my dealer if and when I buy and make them set it up before I take delivery.

One more favor. Would you measure the height of your tractor from the ground to the top of the ROPS with it in the folded position and let me know what kind of tires you have. I plan on getting Ag tires and need to clear under a 78 or 79" door opening.

Thanks
Jason
