Putting roof on my building, is there any easy way to install plywood clips? Seems like you need 3 trained monkeys to hold clips all in place while you slide the sheet. And the monkeys get their fingers smashed a lot.

A little hard to explain but...

You need to stand on the previously laid course...don't try to work from above...

either the aluminum or the steel clips can be slightly pinched to open the upper side to accept the next course...this also helps hold the clip in place on the already laid sheet...

Place the clips on lower (previous) course...stand the next sheet on edge just above the clips and using the claw of your hammer (to expand your reach) hook it on the top of the sheet you're laying...use your toe to keep the sheet from sliding down until you're ready then wiggle the sheet while lowering and allow it to slide down to the clips...watch the edges and if needed use your foot to apply just enough pressure (on whichever edge) to slip into the clip...
It takes a little practice but is a proven method...

Seems like every sheet is warped just enough to keep one clip from matching up properly. I like the idea of pinching the clip, I'll try that.

Hopefully this may be of some assistance? How to Use Plywood Clips | eHow.com

My experience with ehow is they never use pictures and always say something moronically obvious like: "To install plywood clips, install the plywood clip then slide the plywood into place". Well thanks ehow, that sure cleared it all up.

Using thicker plywood seems to help, and it helps if the plywood has been sitting absolutely flat, across pallets or flat ground etc. That doesn't really help you now I'm sure.

Pinching the clips a smidge helps. The clips ought to have a biting tooth that makes them only want to slip on. Patent the process for making those and sell the rights and retire.

That's almost what they say:

"Position plywood clips onto the top or upper horizontal edge of the installed plywood panels between each rafter or support block.
...
Install the next row of plywood into position by sliding the bottom edge into the channel of the installed plywood clips"

---------------------------------
And this is their instruction for a plywood roof:

"Cut the plywood to the correct size for the roof and hammer it to the roof joists."

I've never had a problem installing them. put your first row of plywood down, put on clips by the wide side, slide next sheet of plywood down on the clips, repeat after nailing plywood.
