has anyone bought or used the brand of 3pt backhoes that are always being sold on ebay: Taylor made, i think is what they are called? the price is sure right for a new, self contained, 3pt backhoe: pickin em up in Ky would be a little out of the way though.

Maybe not for those guys who live in Ky??:)
I'm not familiar with them, but check out their specs and cost vs others you're looking at. Determine if it's worth it?

I bought the Taylor Way 766 backhoe for my JD 4210 last month. It's a solid unit that's made in Italy then shipped to Ky. I just mounted it on the tractor today and just played with the controls. It's a little "jerky" but I'm thinking that there should be an adjustment valve (?). I'll call the vendor I bought it from and ask. BTW the vendor was suppose to have shipped the backhoe with a 9" bucket but instead shipped an 18" bucket which is too wide for what I need to do around my property.

So you completed your custom subframe for the Taylor Way, Seon?
Did you end up getting the JD subframe and modifying it?

Anyway, if you are still looking for a reasonably-priced new 12" bucket,
let me know your pin spacing and dipper stick width. I have an
extra one here in SJ.

I have yet to see a larger (7.5') Taylor Way on Ebay. Usually they
are the 766 6.5-footer. I wonder if there IS a 7.5-footer...

No, I haven't had a chance to fabricate a subframe yet. I've been working on my front gate & fence where a delivery truck decided to drive thru them :( .

As you know, I had a problem with my PTO not engaging. Brought it to the JD dealer who discovered a faulty solenoid connector. Unfortunately, the warrantee expired but at lease the PTO now works.

Regarding the subframe, I'll be able to start on that soon now that I've ordered and have received new electrons and caps for my plasma cutter.

As for the 7.5' Taylor backhoe, I don't know if they make them. As a matter of fact, I haven't been able to find too much info on the 766.

I'll take measurements on my 18" bucket and pm you to see if your 12" bucket will work.

I called Taylor Pittsburg this morning to ask about the "Jerky" movement. Was told that for shipping, they use a lighter oil and that I should change to 40W motor oil to eliminate "some" of the "jerkiness". Yep...MOTOR OIL !

I also asked if they make a 7.5'...nope, just the 6.5'.

Regarding the backhoe pin spacing, it's approximately 5-7/16". The pin diameter is 1.180" x 6.570" long.

Will your bucket fit?

Seon,
If that Taylor is made in Italy, it is probably a very good one. Italy (for some reason) is very big into backhoes. You might try looking online for "Seagull" , "Mazzotti" or "Nardi" backhoes. I think they are all Italian and maybe Taylor is really one of those?

I just finished digging 150' long x 18"-24" deep trench to bury the line for the remote control gate opener. My property is nothing but river rocks, but this backhoe did the job with no strain at all. I'll post pics later but right now, it's 102 degrees and I still have to slip the cable thru PVC then bury it.

I've owned a JD 750 compact with a #7 backhoe on it. I would compare this Taylor Way to being just as good if not better than #7. The quality of this is very good. The mfgr didn't cut any corners...it's very well built.

I've looked at the Nardi backhoe but didn't buy it because of the cost at approximately $1K/ft, so a 6' here sells with tax approximately $6500. I bought this 6.5' Taylor Way for $1K less, which included delivery.

BTW here's a pic of the trench. http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL563/2749607/10258934/158430835.jpg
