Hello All,

I have a customer who found this and asked me about it. I have no clue as to its quality, reliability etc. Do any of you know anything about it?

I just don't see how with steel prices, cylinder and labor how they could sell at this price if it is even an OK quality.

Rock and root grapple on ebay

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Maka

Well he has a pretty good feedback rating. And the grapple looks like a decent buy even at the buy-it-now price. If I was looking for a ready made grapple think I might jump on it.

Looks to me like he has a similar auction with a buy-it-now price of $1200. or a minimum bid of $900.00.....

I agree, for the price it is almost worth the risk. I noticed the feedback was good as well. I think the $1,200.00 was a bit larger grapple.

It's only 48" wide and has only one cylinder on the grapple. Many of the other grapples discussed here are wider and have two independent cylinders on the grapple jaw. What is the thickness of the steel that make the lower jaw? Are the teeth hardened steel or just cold-rolled soft steel?

Steel looks pretty thin to me. The way it's reinforced makes me think it's made from mild steel.

I believe that all of the grapples with this type of upper clamp have only 1 cylinder per clamp. This narrow grapple has only 1 clamp, so I do not think that 1 cylinder is a big deal. Take a look at Virnig for example.

I also do not think that 48" is an issue on a CUT. If using it in rock or in land clearing, the narrow width will probably be a benefit. To pull up brush or small trees, something too wide is a problem in damaging adjacent trees or negotiating the terrain. Also, these grapples weigh a lot, so going too big can be problem. Grapples are not used the same way as a material bucket, so going very big usually is not an advantage for varied uses.

The price is great for this thing. Ask more about who made it, what company?

In their store they also had some of the best prices I have seen for backhoe thumbs. Noticed a 72” Low Pro skid steer bucket for $500 and the Bob Cat brand 72” Low Pro I bought retailed for $1100. Wish they listed the weight of the implements in their description. Hope someone here has dealt with them and can speak from personal experience.

Doc I think the smaller footprint of this grapple might have some real advantages. Plus a lot of the smaller tractors can't handle the weight of the larger grapples and a load of tree at the same time.

Based on what I have in my home made grapple $$$$$ I still think this is a bargain.

I didn't say the size was a disadvantage, but just trying to account from the low price.
