eBay/Craigslist Ebay listing

It looks like it got pulled. Ebay doesn't like the "pay now and it will arrive from China in six weeks" stuff. I just bought some Chinese dirt bikes this way. The only problem was I had to wait over 4 months to get them. The seller did come through but his account was suspended(twice). He lost money on the bikes because they were held for inspection in CA for weeks. I will never do a cashiers check again for an item I can't see in person. Once ebay dropped him there was no reason for him to come through on his word but thankfully he did. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes it was. I like how they put a starting price of $3000 then a shipping price of $3000.

Just because a person or company imports from China, that does not mean they are going to scam someone. Also, just because a product takes longer than a day to be delivered, it does not mean that it is a bad deal either.

There are many good reasons for ordering rather than taking just what is availble.

The importer of the bikes probably did lose his shirt, as it happens often, if they do not take all the possibilities into consideration. That is just part of doing buisiness. If he was in the U.S, he had a very good reason to follow through with the deal, win-lose-draw.

The call it fraud, and unless he was in your state, it then becomes Federal and the Feds take that very seriously, especially if you used the postal service.

The seller on EBay keeps getting kicked off (suspended) and they keep coming back under a different name. Now these people are outside of the US. If they do not follow through or do noty tell you everything there is not much a buyer can do.

A word of caution to everybody that is buying anything. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SALES CONTRACT! If you do not, then it could be buyer beware.

Funny thing though...people still see that 3k for the unit and the 3k for the shipping and they are still after the deal. Oh well, what can a person do....you can't save those that do not want to be saved.

Thats the largest EBAY ad I've ever seen!

That sellers name cbp..... is China Best Products. they have been selling Tractors and all sorts of stuff from China. I really never heard anything bad about them and many I've heard have purchased from them.
The high shipping is a(loophole) and a real thorn in EBAY's side as they only get a commission on the selling price if its a commission only if it sells ad. Its not this particular type item that bugs them its the low cost items like a wallet or book and the shipping is listed as 25 bucks and the item price is 1 buck. If it sold for say, 5 bucks + shipping EBAY would only get commission on the 5 bucks but you know it doesn't cost 25 bucks to ship a wallet or book.
See what I mean?
Obviously a tractor costs way more to ship but I guess if sold the commission way it would save at least some $$.

With all that said I am not endorsing (CBP) as I would feel better dealing with a reputable dealer. Yes, it may cost a few hundred more but at least I know these well know dealers can be counted on for support and answer my questions. Just my opine. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Over four months is longer than a day. In fact it is over 120 days. When the guy's ebay listing says 4 to 5 weeks but it won't take that long and you quadruple that I think that is slightly off the mark. By the way this was my second incident(with a diffferent vendor) for a paid for motorcycle not being delivered.

Ebay pulled his auctions and delisted him because he was selling things he didn't have. I didn't understand all this at the time. I have a better understanding now. I thought to a certain extent Ebay created the contract for you by creating a system where they insure security using Paypal. I sent a money order to save the guy some fees cause I was getting the bikes at a good price. My only concern is once he is delisted do they give you any of the benefits in getting your money back? I would guess at some level yes but no more feedback to make you feel comfortable.

I see Ebay's point of view as there are so many scam auctions they can't sort through what is legit and fake. Go look for a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle. Three or four months ago there were more fake listings than legit auctions. You'd see motorcycles that should sell for $8-$9000 be listed for $2000. The person would have feedback but it would be old and for things like baby clothes or something comletely different that motorcycles. The point is ebay isn't full proof. The guy I dealt with came through and I appreicate his effort. When you have $6000 worth of storage fees on your container and you've losing money on the auctions and are no longer listed on ebay then I could see why taking the money and running might be attractive.

Just my point of view based on my experiences.

The problem with the listing is that it is not only that they are selling something they do not have, they are listing options that are not included in the bidding, other models and eve makes of tractors. I got in trouble with ebay once because i listed a few upgrades that where available to add to the purchase. each needs to be on a separate auction. Ebay is not in the advertising business they are a market facilitator. they want the listings designed so the purchase goes through the system. what little they offer in the way of safeguards (a daunting task in this era) require the transaction to go through their channels.

Ebay fraud is rampant! I had a tractor not make my number, sent the high bidder a second chance offer. He said mine (legit) was the third one he got on MY tractor!

This particular seller is a legitimate (far as I know) broker. Not a dealer.

I have seen lots of imported products with 4-6 week and longer deliveries on ebay. This should be a red flag. Someone selling something they don't have, they plan to buy it with YOUR money, then deliver it to you....

I prefer to do it the hard way I guess. I may take a deposit to secure an incoming unit, but I buy my inventory, I get it throught customs, I assemble and test THEN I sell it. Perhaps I am out of step with the times, today customers are willing to take way too much risk to save a few hard earned dollars. Just an observation...
