effectiveness of pto irrigation pump

i would like to start a potato farming project 1.5h. i have a 45hp tractor and would like to use a pto pump for irrigation . my problem is the pto pump cost saving to run

What are you basing the cost savings on? Running your tractor Vs a stationary engine or electric motor.

Most tractors do not have any safety features built in to shut them down if they over heat, run low on oil, etc. Usually not a large concern but one to consider.

Use a seperate pump and motor. It saves wear and tear on the tractor. What type of irrigation, sprinkler, flood makes a big difference. Are you pumping from lake or stream?
