I've got a Stihl fs90 that I used that's a very good trimmer but I have trouble finding time to trim. It's too heavy to use buy my wife. My wife is using these Black & Decker electric things and they just wasn't up to the task so I bought her and the ego 56 volt trimmer it's a nice trimmer now. But there's one problem with the trimmer heads. Although they have a nice load feature the head keeps cracking right around the outer edge of the plastic head and it comes apart.

Is anybody else using this trimmer and have the same problem. I'm looking for a different style trimmer head since these rapid load ones don't seem to be holding up.

I don't know if this will fit the EGO, but I have been using this one for 6 years and it has held up well.

I check with some question/answers on Home Depot web site.... Says it will not fit any EGO product. Sure wish it did. I had forgot about Echos trimmer head, heard sometime back it was pretty good.

We just had the same problem with ours and ordered 2 replacements, one for a spare. I really like the EGO products but it seems like any replacement parts have to come from them. If you find a different source please post it as it will help a lot of us.

We've gone through 2 heads, both broke around the rim of the bottom piece. The one that broke today saw far less use than the first one. Little research says a lot of people with same issue. I agree... We do all the trimming with the EGO....wife really likes it.

My EGo trimmer predates the fancy loader head. I've not broken one yet.

Same here. I had thought I might like that new system, but am glad to see this thread. Reloading the string on mine (as I did yesterday) doesn't take me long, and I have a spare spool loaded so if I run out in the middle of a job, I can just change spools.

Which head are we talking about.? They use two different ones on different trimmers.
The Rapid reload or the Powerload head..?I

Never mine.. I see now that it's the Rapid load. Which sucks cause I have one but haven't broke it "yet"...
