Electonic shuttle shift code 14

Ok time for the quiz: What does code 14 mean?

Took my TN55s (cab) to a local independent shop for AC repair (charging). Picked it up it and initially it wouldn't move. The shuttle shift error lamp was lit.

It went out, the icon with the manual and gear in it came on and started flashing the code. The tractor was movable then.

The de-coder in the owners manual indicates 5-1-4= code 14, but gives no list of codes.

Main Gear shift (1-2-3-4) switch signal voltage shorted to 5 or 12 volts.
Faulty wiring.
Faulty main (C1) gear switch.
Faulty ECM.

I found myself driving past the former NH dealer (now Deere) and got some help from a mechanic. A more limited answer than yours, it called out the hi/low switch (c1).

I will have to investigate when I have time. I wonder what/where the mechanic jumpered the low pressure ac cut off switch from. That might give me a clue as to what is around it, wiring wise.

Took a quick look-see, didn't see any obvious switches in the gear shift lever areas. Nothing obvious on the external side of the trans. Operated one switch I found nearby.

Where should C1 be?

Below the point where the shift linkages enter the transmission housing. The gear switch connector is black, the range switch connector is red. Both are ball switches screwed into the housing. There may be shims to set the switch depth.

I removed one switch after not seeing any thing but 0 ohms on my volt meter. Then I set the range to 20 ohms.

Open= 2.70 ohms.
Closed= 0.54 ohms.
Both switches. Apparently the ECM/ECU compares logical states as well as voltage levels to indicate the failure type (open/closed/no connection). May also be just to make it hardier to signals riding on the lines.

I had removed my loader before taking it to be serviced. My loader lines are connected to the rear remotes and I must have jiggled the connectors just enough that everything was fine until I picked up the tractor (a cool morning) and the connection had shifted just enough. The connector pins were all good, so I applied a thin layer of dielectric grease to the tip of the connector (seating face) that will go against the silicon rubber gasket in the switch lead.

Yeah! ECU/ECM is currently $500+.

I searched for manuals (Google, Ebay, various forums, & threads here).

GSXRSQUID bought the repair manual set on CD (part number 87034092-cd: ~$100; currently on back order). That will not show up on the NH web site when doing a manual search (only the hardbound one will: $500+). I couldn't find listings for the sectional manuals. Rick (GSXRSQUID) indicated the cd version wiring diagrams were not very easy to see (probably scanned too light), but for the price and accessability may be about the cheapest part you could buy, value wise.
