I'd like to start off by saying sorry if I have this posted in the wrong forum, but it does contain a hydraulic question that I need answered. That being said...
I would like to build a grapple for my front end loader on my tractor, but my hydraulic system is pretty much fully utilized. I did however, see a guy selling a grapple system that uses a "electric actuated hydraulic cylinder" (here is the link: Bucket Grapple pictures by extremem - Photobucket ). I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this type of system, what kind of capacity it might have, and where could a guy get his hands on one? Any and all comments are both welcome and appreciated. Thanks

This was discussed a long time ago, and IIRC the seller even tried to advertise it here without permission and was banned. The general thought was that it would be slow and not very effective.

What does this mean:
but my hydraulic system is pretty much fully utilized

What can't you add a new valve?

I suppose I could add a new valve, but the idea of running the grapple with an electric button and still have the capacities of hydraulics intrigued me. Just my own personal thoughts, but I am open to ideas. Thanks for the reply!

Add a divertor valve at the loader and use the same hyd for the bucket curl

search grapple you will get some ideas and maybe part # I think 3RRL did it on his.

Not sure what model of tractor and loader you have but could you install a three spool valve stack to replace the two spool valve stack for your loader? This would keep the plumbing simpler and provide you with the extra function for your grapple.

I agree with Kenny D that most electro/hydraulic cylinders I have seen in the market are either slow or expensive. Some of them also require a significant anmount of electricity which can be a larger load that tractor alternators can produce.

Thanks J.J. I have a 2 spool valve right now (with 2 separate levers), without any P.B. after thumbing through Surplus Center's site, I came across a valve similar in style to what I currently have but 3 spool with P.B. Here's the link:

Please let me know what you're thoughts are on it.

Sorry, its the "Loader Configuration w/ Grapple" one. Also, its going on my Yanmar 240D. Thanks.

The Prince SV Series stack valves are great for any CUT, cost a little more than some others-but nice because you can "custom build" the perfect valve for your application.
