Posted pictures of my 2544 and the hitch from rs_fabricators purchased on E-Bay for $377.23. Really works good and not too much hassle to install. Made some changes from suggested mounting setup. Handles after market acessories with no problems.

That looks pretty nice. What additional holes did you have to drill to accomodate the new hitch if any? And what other changes did you make from the mounting instructions?

Thanks for posting those pics.

Hey Mike: Added (1) 1/2" hole in the top actuator braket in the top center. It had (2) holes along the bottom. The right hole couldn't be used because of the actuator positioning. The original inst's. mounted the hitch pivot bar across the back plate just above the 3 diamonds. This would interfere with the trans disconnect lever, so you are supposed to cut out for that. Instead, I drilled two 1/2" holes down through the hitch hole part of the plate and mounted the hitch bar underneath and pointing down. I used the original holes which are 7" centers and used the pin hitch hole on the plate as a reference (3.5" on each side. Actually would have been better to add 2 holes to the bar on 3" centers to stay away from the diamonds. I then added 2 holes to the new bar hitch. Two for clearance holes and two in the rear tapped for 1/2-13 bolts, 3" long. These are used to stabalize the attachment stopping any side movement, which you will get otherwise.

Thanks for the write up, it was extremely helpful. I have a Cub 3235 and would like to add a sleeve hitch too. My back plate is larger than yours and I think I would have room for the pivot bar across the back under the trans disconnect lever. Looks like all I would have to do is drill two holes in the back plate for the top of the actuator bracket and two for the pivot bar. Then drill and tap for stabilizing side to side movement of the attachments.

At one time these guys had two hitches available. The one that came with the pivot bar bracket is no longer listed on ebay so I may shoot him an email about that.

Again, thanks a bunch for the information.

If you have a larger back plate, there's a good chance that's all you would have to do. They usually keep both models listed. Go to Lawn and Garden and search for Electric Sleeve Hitch. They normally both show up. One model is for the older series and one is listed mtd, cub et al. The e-mail for Dan Smith is roospike@yahoo.com. Phone # is 402-645-3177. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for his information. Here is a link to what the back plate of my 3235 looks like, it's not my Cub mind you, but it's exactly like this one.

Nice job on mounting the hitch 1oldawg. I had thought about buying one from the same guy, but ended up getting a deal on the Hydro tiller (comes with the hitch).

One thing to think about ... I think you are better off with the lower mounting on your 2000 series. If the bottom mount would have been higher I think you may have had the actuator on too flat of an angle. Might be something for Mike_wa to think about on his 3000 series as well. Although he probably has a little more room on his tractor.

Here is a pic of the OEM hitch (not mine ... toddz's I think). Notice how the actuator is lifting mainly vertical.

Not trying to be negative on the install ... just trying to point out something to think about.

Hey Ed: Great picture. Your are right. Your backplate with the OEM looks completely different from the original. I looked at the picture of Mike's machine and see two problems with the shape on the backplate. The top actuator mount will have to come down too far and as you stated, this would flatten the actuator too much. Mine actually came down 5/8" from the top. As I had mounted below the plate I gained the verticle angle back and still had plenty of ground height. Actually about the center of the rear end housing.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the input, I'd hate to get something and find it won't work.

I did find another guy who also makes electric sleeve hitches, for John Deere's though. I emailed him last night and he said he would venture to a Cub dealer, take some measurements and see what he can come up with. His version looks alot like the one Ed pictured which looks like it would have the correct angles for proper functioning. Hopefully he can come up with something. I put the link down below.

Yet another Electric Sleeve Hitch
