I didnt do a third function kit....I opted for a diverter.....but the "kit" that I assembled by buying separate stuff.....$316.

Looked at alot of different kits, from alot of different places. Most in the $600-$800 range. I couldnt see how they were coming up with their prices after studying what all came in the kits. I am used to seeing prices that are LESS when buying a "kit" or package deal, as opposed to buying all the components individually.

I think they can get away with charging so much, because many of their purchasers just dont understand hydraulics, and dont have a clue what they actually need.

I have the exact same unit purchased 3 months ago. My dealer quoted the same price. Yes you can do it yourself. It you want to purchase the kit all at one time it will probably be a WR Long kit. Everything Attachments, WR Long, National Implement, ETC... will sell you the kit and you can do the install. You will save around $300-$400 in labor costs.

Lots of threads on diverter versus electric over hydraulic. Just do a google search. LD1 just finished a nice diverter set up for his MX5100. If you are so inclined you can purchase the parts separately for either a diverter set up or electric over hydraulic and get your local NAPA or parts retailer to fabricate the hoses for you. I don't know how much you can save over the complete kits but I would think in the $200-$300 range. The kits make it easy for do-it-yourself types to get everything they need at one time.

Old thread, but was curious if your kit hooks up underneath the tractor with a metal 90* elbow coming out underneath the valve body? When purchasing tractors not having things exposed underneath was a big factor and after having the kit installed I saw the 3rd valve line very exposed now. Dealer claimed that's the only way, curious how yours was?
