Alright guys I have been scratching my head on this one all evening...a buddy of mine asked me to look at the trailer brakes on his 16' BP landscape trailer...first thing I done was got under the trailer and re done all of the connectors at the brakes...have a voyager brake box and every time I plug the trailer into my truck I only get a dim red light on the brake box with the tension all the way up...I can take 12 volts from my jump start and take it straight to the trailer plug ground and brake terminal on the plug and the brakes will work...trailer is factory wired and I even checked the brake box with my other trailers and everything works as it should...I know it's probably something simple that I'm forgetting or not thinking about so any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have a good trailer ground?

Yes i have a good trailer ground. I have actually redone the connection on the trailer ground and can ohm straight through to the ground on the trailer plug to the trailer frame.

I would test each brake individually. You could have a bad magnet that the controller just doesn't have the amperage to handle but the battery does.

Is the ground on your truck good?

Ground on the truck should be good since the brakes work on my other trailers work properly.

Just curious, but how much resistance do you measure from ground (frame) on the tow vehicle to the ground on the trailer?

I know you think your grounds are OK, but I've learned never to use the frame as a conductor. Just run a separate, heavier ground wire from the harness to each light and to each brake. Using the frame as a conductor in a truck makes sense, but on a trailer, it is just guaranteed aggravation.
