Hi Folks:

Another probably stupid question here...my 1220 has a mid-PTO. There's a lever right beside the 4wd engagement lever. I've tried just getting it engaged (even with the engine off) and the lever won't seem to move. It looks like the cover is on the mid-PTO (as it should be). I'd assume there's some sort of mechanical locking mechanism to prevent the PTO from being engaged when the cover's on. Is this correct? Is there any trick to getting the cover off? The manual shows to engage it by clutching and shifting the lever, and mentions that it should have the cover on it when it's not being used, but doesn't really tell me much more about it.

Presumably the only thing it would be used for is a mid-mount mower or front mount snowblower, right?

As you can probably tell from my posts, I'm slowly going through everything on this machine to understand as much as I can about it. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

TIA,
Dave

Dave,
It sounds like your mid PTO have never been used. If that is right there is a chance that the shaft has froze up where it goes into to the housing. Make sure that something isn't jambed in there keeping it from moving and then soak everything down with PB Blaster. Let it soak for a day or two and then try it again.
