Good afternoon from frosty New York State. I was just outside pushing snow around with my 2003 4310. As I worked myself into a rather large snowbank, I got a little too aggressive in my push and the engine stalled out. It's one of those things that has happened before. Usually, when trying to restart, the engine will run a little rough for a few seconds and then resume smooth operation. Well, this time i started, but immediately died. I repeated the process 4 or 5 more times, with similar lousy results. I should note that I relieved all the pressure on the bucket so as not to force the engine to have to work against that.

I hopped off to give it some time to let any residual pressures or anything dissipate. I went back out but encountered the same results. Any thoughts on what the problem might be? I'm nervous.. :)

Thanks!

Check the fuse for the fuel shut off solenoid.

And I'd check that a forward pedal returned to neutral. As well as the gear lever in neutral position.

I would start with checking that you have fuel in the tank and that your filter isnt gelled up (are you using something like the white power service?)...

All of the above but that doesn't sound good. You may have broke a timing chain or gear (depending on what that engine has for a setup. Or some other part that couldn't take the strain of the sudden stop. Perhaps a bent connecting rod or valve stem.

Since it starts even if it won't stay running most likely some thing simple.

Can you get it/drag it somewhere warm?
I would be wanting to rule out a cold weather fuel problem before suspecting other things.

The OP hasn't checked back in since his 2-28 post, so suspect he's not still interested or has the problem fixed.

Hope he lets us know.

I would have asked what temperatures he was working in. Probably nothing catastrophic!

I'd guess that the reason it died originally is the same reason it won't start now. It may have lost power because it ran out of sufficient fuel flow.
