engine dies when headlights turned on TC 33D

I have an issue that has just started with my tc 33d. When I turn on the headlights, the engine dies. When I immediately turn the ignition on again all lights are off including the headlights. But, the emergency flashers work. If I wait a few minutes, turn the ignition back on sometimes the idiot lights turn on dimly and no starting, or sometimes the idiot lights are nice and bright and the tractor starts right up. It runs fine for a short or long time but if I turn the headlights, nothing. Dead.

I checked the battery cables and they are nice and tight. Good battery power as the tractor cranks fine.

A mystery that is driving me crazy.

Any ideas?

That IS ODD.. the machine only uses battery power to run the starter & keep the inj. pump solenoid operating..{for the most part}
It sounds as if u have a wire rubbed thru..
To solve the problem>> don't run at nite..Lol.
The stop sol. is screwed into the left of the inj. pump, see if any of the headlite wires run by it..
The stop sol. is just a 1 wire gizmo {+} & grounds thru the body.{-}

The power dies completely. Nothing works except the emergency flashers. I took the dash apart looking for obvious stuff and everything worked fine. Turned headlights on and off several times, all good. Put back together. All good. Started the tractor 10 minutes later. Same issue. Power off. Flashers will work but nothing else. Slowly the dash idiot lights started illuminating but not enough to start. Waited and started fine. Shut off when headlights were clicked. Weird!

i had almost the exact thing happen on tc45d. checked a lot of things and changed out rocker switches on dash
ended up changing seat switch and it went away. it didn't appear it could be that but i was running out of things to try and that did it. next was going to be my ignition switch but i didn't have to go there

It sounds like something is acting as a bi-metallic switch when enough current gets going through the system (headlights). The fuel shut-off solenoid is powered off the assy lug on the ign switch. It sounds like how everything goes dead, it is before the switch. I would change out the main fuse first, or at least test it before/after symptoms.

After looking at schematic, your items that are going dead are all going THROUGH the ign switch. The hazards are taken off the power lead GOING to the switch. With all the problems people have had with switches, I say get a switch.

Well, I replaced the ignition switch. It was an aftermarket switch with a push button for the glow plugs. I replaced with similar. Sam issue. Took the tractor outside and turned the lights on and stalled. I messed with the 30 amp fuse holder and then the clip that attaches to the alternator. All power off. So, today I will look at the details and the schematic and see just where the issue is. Must be under the hood possibly near the starter or alternator.

When everything goes dead, it should be easy to trace then. Does the switch have power, the 30a main fuse, the POS lug on the starter, battery cables?

PS...don't forget the ground connections either!
