Engine Dripping Anti-freeze on a TC45DA

There is a hose that is connected to the top of the valve cover towards the rear of the engine. After the tractor has been run for a while and shut off. Anti-freeze will drip a few drops from this hose onto the ground. The tractor has a little over 1400 hours with no loss of engine power or any water in the oil. Also no loss of engine oil. It does not leak enough to have to add any water. Any idea of what this hose is for and why anti-freeze would be coming from it.

Two probably dumb questions

Are you sure it's antifreeze, and are you sure it's coming out of the vent hose? It you twist up a paper towel and wipe it inside the end of the vent hose, does it for sure look like antifreeze?

Check to see that it isn't leaking from the block drain fitting on the RH side of the block and running down the OUTSIDE of the crankcase vent hose.

Exactly as RickB suggests, the drain is the most suspect. On the TC45, the drain is attached to a hose going to the bottom of the radiator so that when you drain the radiator, the block automatically gets drained also. The fitting on the engine block is shown in the photo below, between the oil filter and the main hydraulic pump. I'd bet that fitting is leaking or the clamp/hose is damaged and leaking, allowing fluid to collect on your crankcase vent tube.

No, I'm just a very curious owner/user, but RickB is a Senior Technician (may even be a Service Manager by now

) and knows far more than I'll ever know.

Senior Technician is just a polite term for Old F*rt!

I knew I had crossed over when I was down to New Holland, PA for training earlier this month. Of the entire class, only two guys there had more years experience than I, and the same two were the only guys there older than I am. Four others were young enough to be my sons.

Thanks Jim for the help. It took me awhile to reply back, had to make a 1 1/16 crows foot to tighten the drain valve in the engine block about 1/8 turn to stop the drip and relocate the hose to a different area. It seams to have stoped the leak. Thanks again for the help. Rich
