Engine heater for MF 1540

We are looking at a MF1540 with 100 hrs with FEL. The dealer is asking 20,500 but I think he is willing to come off of that price.
Question...We live just west of Kansas City where the winters can get down to 15-20 degrees on regular basis and down to zero on occasion. If I keep the tractor in a closed unheated shop, do I need a plug in engine heater?

We get winters like that where I live in MA and I keep mine in an unheated closed barn...never had an issue...

I plug in my 1547 only when it is -10 F or less...otherwise, I cycle the glow plugs twice for 20 seconds (20 seconds on, 20 seconds off, 20 seconds on).

I've had the engine heater question running in my head for the past month or so. How and where is the block heater installed? How much would the dealer be charging for it? Anyone retrofit their 15xx (1533 for me) with one?

Hey Tongy, that's my trade in your looking at, lol. Don't worry she was babied when I had her, all maintenance done on schedule etc. It was stored in a climate controlled garage so I didn't need a block heater. I traded it for a new 1652 with cab. Which won't fit in my garage, so I did have them add a heater to it. Also, you can't beat Shuck Implement, they have always taken care of me. Good luck with it and let me know if you have any questions.

I forgot... The block heaters are installed by replacing a freeze plug on the side of the block. And Tongy, the 1540L your looking at had the following options added: Rear work light, Loader Pin type quick attach, and 66" Heavy duty bucket with bolt on cutting edge.
