Jinma 354 fwd
I have a 2004 Jinma 354 tractor with a TY395 diesel engine. I have developed a sharp metallic knock in the front part of the engine, it happens when I increase the RPM's and the engine has started to emit light blue exhaust smoke which becomes thicker as I increase the load on the engine. The engine has no loss of power at any load that I can tell.
Before I tear into this engine does anyone have any ideas on what might be my problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The engine has good oil pressure at all loads with no flucuations in pressure at any load.

Worst case scenario: Cracked piston, broken/worn piston rings, scored liner.

Check the oil fill (breather) cap on the left front of the engine to see if it is wet with oil, this will indicate excessive blow-by.

Check the crankcase evacuation tube that goes between the valve cover and the intake manifold. Is it full of oil?

Not for blue smoke that gets worse under load. But a dribbling injector will produce a metallic sounding knock......and produce white/grey smoke.

Do an oil sample, and take it from there ,depending on the results. If you dont have anyone local order one from Blackstone labs online.
it does sound like an injector, you can always loosen the injector to the front cylinder, let it miss on that cylinder, and rev it up,see if it still knocks, and retighten,go thru all of them, and see if you can isolate which cylinder it is.If you can,you can then swap injectors with the cyl next to it,and see if the noise switches cylinders,if it does, you got a bad injector,if not,you will be tearing down an engine.......good luck...

Guess on a loose protection plate in the engine area.
At slowest revs the powers steering may be harder.
You should have the rad rheostat reconnected fans don't last long when straight

I find a mechanics stethescope very valuable when tracking down unusual noises...

Hope its not a broken ring or piston. by now you may have the injector out. You can get some strange sounds if the rocker arm is loose on one end. If it isn't you'll be taking off the head. I vote for a bad injector. [less work] A long screwdriver, blade against the engine the handle against your ear can help pinpoint the sound if you have no stethoscope. Good luck! Be looking to hear what you've found.
