Hi group!
In my deal (TC21D) i worked it out to get all the fluids, filters for the the first swap on everything. As i was changeing the engine oil and filter friday i noticed the new oil filter is smaller diameter than the original. Is this the right filter? The original didnt have any part# on it. Thanks for any replys, Larry

Larry. On my TC29D, the dealer included the 50 hr service as part of the deal. I didn't notice any difference with the filter. The next change, the dealer gave me the oil and filter free for filling out the survey. But, I had do do the change myself. I do recall that the filter on the tractor was grey, and the new one was white. I did not notice any size differrence though. Since then the filter I bought is also white.
You might want to take the old filter in to your dealer and compare it to a new one. I assume the one you put on is not leaking or anything.

I didnt change the filter, just the oil. I figured for sure it wouldnt fit so i didnt take the old one off. There is a O ring on it and with the diameter change in filters i thought it may not line up with the tractor's seal surface. Ill probably end back up at the dealer for a swap, Thanks. Larry

I noticed this when I did my first oil change. The new oil filter fits perfectly. I would have liked the advantage of having a few extra square inches of filter media though.

Same thing with the TC45D. Bought the new filter, went to change it and thought, "no way this is the right one". Took it back to the dealer to make sure it was the right. Service manual showed it as correct, so they contacted NH service to make sure it wasn't a misprint. It fit just fine, though I echo the thought about wanting the extra filter material on 'factory' filter.

You guys might ask you dealer if there is more that one filter available for your tractor. My MF 1250 had two different ones for different clearances. I didn't like the amount of filter volume for either one that they had though. I took a new MF filter to Auto Zone and started to take filters out of the boxes and matching them up. I wound up buying a Bosch filter; that's about twice as large as the original ones. The Bosch is a high quality filter and the bonus is that it is about half price compared to the original filter.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I felt the same thing when I went to change the engine oil filter on my TC33D. Went back to the dealer and said no way - but he lined up the o ring and they did match. I guess the volume of the filter can be different. He said the they put a different filter when they manufacture the boomer - they stock a more universal filter.

Any idea why the 'post factory' filters are smaller? Just like the oil filter, the hydraulic filter I changed on my TC is also much smaller than that which came from the factory? Anyone know if the difference in size changes the service interval on recommended filter changes?
