does anyone know what the compression ratio should be for a 2005 New Holland TC35A diesel? I'm looking at buying; it has 1600 hours and I want the compression checked. Thanks, Moburn

It's would be pretty hard to wear out an engine in 1600 hrs unless you ran it witout an airfilter in dusty condions.
Most of these machines have a compression ratio of~ 18. Compression pressure ratio, Pcompression/pambient, is about 36.5. So if the ambient pressure is 14.7 psia, compression pressure should be around 537 psig +/_ .
The owners manual should have a spec level in it or a NH dealer might be able to tell you correct levels. My gut feel is that it shouldn't be any less than about 450 psig @ an ambient pressure of 14.7 psia. Remember, the measured compression pressure will be a function of the ambient pressure so if the test is conducted at high altitudes the measured compression pressure will be less.

I didn't realize that the compression ratio would be that high. The min allowable pressure is 355 psi per the Shibaura manual is.
