Just to advise that an improved engine stop solenoid appears to have become available for some Kioti models (My machine is a DS4510HS produced in 2010 and purchased in 2011. I am not sure if the same part is used in other models).

The solenoid that I experienced problems with and replaced under warranty is numbered E6850 60012
The new part is numbered E6820 6011

My dealer advised that the new solenoid would provide improved reliability.

Apart from this hiccup my tractor has performed faultlessly for 205 hrs.

Just curious . what were your symptoms . I have a DK 40SE which every once in a while , maybe one in 20 starts the solenoid wont engage and all I get is engine crank. It has always started wth the second cycle of the ignition key though . Mine is a 2010 also I think .

Just curious . what were your symptoms . I have a DK 40SE which every once in a while , maybe one in 20 starts the solenoid wont engage and all I get is engine crank. It has always started wth the second cycle of the ignition key though . Mine is a 2010 also I think .

My DS 45 started first time every time for a quite a while. Over the last several months it sometimes required a few cranks to fire. I guessed it might be air in the fuel line or the preheating.

I knew the pull back coil in the solenoid was working because I could here the loud click every time when moving the ignition switch to ON.

Finally I could get no loud click at all and no firing and the solenoid became too hot to touch and also the engine stop solenoid fuse had blown. When I put a new 30amp fuse in it blew every time.

When I took the solenoid out and cranked the engine it started like a charm every time. You can stick your finger in the solenoid housing cavity to stop the tractor (with care)

I put the replacement solenoid in and started getting the loud click but no firing.

Finally looked at the workshop manual and realised there was another separate fuse for the holding coil of the solenoid.

Sure enough, the 10amp fuse had also been blown by the old solenoid.

I am thinking now that the faulty ( maybe sticking ) solenoid may have been causing the irregular starting all along eventually ending in complete failure.

My dealer indicated there was a bad batch of solenoids from the factory.

Anyway if this is the worst thing that goes wrong with the Kioti I'll be a happy man.

The solenoid was dead easy to replace, covered by warranty and the dealer had the new one to me in a couple of hours.

Hope this helps.
