I have a 1500 so I guess it runs about the same temp. I believe the 1300 also has no water pump. At idle mine usually hangs at about 160 range on days that are 80 degrees (outside temp doesn't really change things until it gets HOT out). When it works hard it easily goes to 200-210...but at that point I usually downshift and let it get a bit cooler (probably excessive on my part). I believe the high temp warning light is set to come on at 235 degrees...but let someone else verify that to make sure I am not way off base.
I use my 1500 for pulling gang mowers so I can always down shift...I may go slower but the engine revs faster and works easier so it cools down really fast. I also have almost pure distilled water in the radiator for warm weather use ...antifreeze will make the thermosiphon system run a lot hotter since it doesn't circulate as well.
Before I shut down I let it idle back to about 160 degrees...I hope that's the right thing to do.
By the way, my oils pressure runs about 45 when cold and revved over 1000 RPM. When fully hot and idling it goes down to about 20.
Hope this helps...and please let others verify my info. I can tell you what mine does...but others may tell you what it SHOULD do!
