I am approaching the 800 hour mark and it is recommended that the valve gap be checked. I've done them on other machines but not on the B7800. Is it as simple as regular valve adjustment?
It looks like the injectors are in the way and need to be removed prior to adjustment.

Has anyone had experience with this? How long a job is it?

Thanks,

I would be very much interested in this information also. I have always adjusted the valves on everything that I have owned. There is no information on this in the owners manual. Perhaps the Kubota B7800 shop manual would have detailed instructions on how to do this. I would purchase the expensive shop manual if the valve adjusting information was in it. I have no need for the shop manual other than this. Maybe some that have the B7800 shop manual could help us out.

It's always comforting to just check out the valve clearance,at the recommend service intervals, now that the engine has settled in so to speak.I have purchased the parts and service manuals for my B3030HSDC although I haven't used them much yet,I know they will invaluable in the future.
At any rate, isn't the engine the same as the B7800?I imagine you need to remove the rocker cover and check the clearance(cold or hot).Usually on a 4 cylinder engine you can adjust half of the valves at #1 cylinder TDC on the compression stroke, then rotate the engine 360 and adjust the other half on the #1 exhaust stroke.Maybe a rocker cover gasket on hand would be nice if in a hurry, although yours might be reuseable. If you like,I could look up the procedure and clearances and post back.PM also OK.Good Luck

Thanks for the input. I have the sequence and gaps - they are different for intake and exhaust. The process should be typical - done cold. I was just wondering if anyone had done it and found unexpected challenges and how long it took.

I have the manual on order - should be here soon.

I'll post my findings after I do the job.

I have just finished the valve clearance adjustment and it is as straight forward as any other valve adjustment - even easier since you don't have to lean over a large fender and bumper! I took the muffler off and it made access real easy. Intake and Exhaust are the same gap and the sequence is easy. I can scan the sequence chart if anyone is interested and send it via email. As a matter of fact I can scan the entire page of the service manual if you want it.

Happy to hear your procedure went well. How far off were the clearances? And did you need a new cover gasket?I always feel better after adjusting my own valves on a new to me engine.

Only a few really needed adjustment. The valve cover gasket is really an O-ring type and it seemed fine so it went back on. I'll check after a few hours to be sure that it is sealing OK, but I suspect that it is fine.
