Tractor
YM 1510-D
Allow me to introduce myself. I am an American, but live in Poland. I am a Baptist missionary and we have a church grounds that needs some MAJOR landscaping work. I decided that we would be money ahead if we bought a small tractor to do the work rather than hiring it out. Several companies are now importing "grey market" tractors into Poland and I considered Kubota 7001 (7100) and the smaller Yanmars. I decided on the 1510D because it is the largest engine in the small size frame and it has the powershift transmission.

I want to thank all of you for your help as I read the back threads about the different models of YMs and the problems and repairs that were discussed. I learned alot and when finally decided to get a 1510D and looked at the ones that I could find I felt more informed on what to look for. I probably will be looking for more answers in the future. I have already ordered the parts manual from Hoye.

I am working through some problems of a VN rebuild, but I chose this tractor because of price and the reputation of a dealer that has been selling these tractors all over Europe for 7 years. It has a 6 month parts warranty. (I do not intend to start a war of words about rebuilds please). Here it seems we get junk or rebuilds. I chose the rebuild with a warranty. We will see.

I already was able to earn a bit of implement money by tilling up a neighbor's lawn for him. He was very happy and gave me a bonus over what we agreed for the price.:) I plan on making a box-blade very soon for the work at church.

I will try to include a picture of the tractor and the trailer that I used to haul it from Germany (700 km). The trailer is too small, but it is what I have, so it has to do.

Thanks again for your advice and help.

That'l work, these things were designed, (narrow), to be hauled in the back of Japanese pickup trucks. By the way, you look pretty young to be hauling a trailer 700km across Europe;) .

Great looking tractor MJ. Best of luck with it and be careful. If you have the funds you may want to consider a ROPS for it. I'm a big fan of ROPS. I believe there is a company that specializes in ROPS for grey markets and rebuilds. Here it is: Hercules - Home

I agree on the ROPS especially if my children, Daniel my youngest, is already begging to drive it, were to use it. It is pretty flat here, but "wheelies" are easy to do. I have not seen a ROPS for the smaller tractors available here in Europe. I even had to talk the dealer out of the clutch switch--he automatically takes them off. I have already looked at pics of the design and instructions that Hoye has on his site. But he has not put the pdf of the 1510 instructions on yet. But when he does it will be one of the first things that I will make. I believe that I can from looking at the other examples, but am waiting for the specific.
I checked the company that you gave but they do not have the YM 1510 listed and their distributer only had the ROPS for kubota. Go figure!!

We have FOLDING, OSHA approved ROPS for virtually all the grey Yanmars. Much nicer looking unit than the Hercules. Includes seatbelt and all hardware. Seperately we sell bolt-on PTO shields and clutch safety start switches. Unfortunately for you Mike, I think the shipping would be prohibitive. I caution against building a ROPS, even to copy an OSHA approved unit. There is significant engineering that goes into designing and building them, and an insufficient unit could provide a dangerous false sense of security. Get some weight on that front bumper pronto to help keep it down.
