The first spring we moved in, we had a swamp of a yard. due to some low spots and high water table. Shure they would eventually dry up but it took WEEKS.

So we wanted to put in a drain tile. But not having the time, and with next spring aproching quicly i borrowed a ditching plow from a neighbor and dug a small 1' deep ditch to the back of our property were it starts to drop off quickly.

AH success! the Erie canal as we nicknamed it, ran with a furry! espeically in the spring.

Fast forward 2 years. and the drain tile is FINALLY going in. (man im tired of stepping over that dam ditch)

makeing the existing ditch a bit deeper (i have no choice but to make it 16" wide, cant wait to find a 8" bucket... rain comming in hard tomarrow)

4" socked drain tile cover flush with 3/4" clear crushed (because i dont have enough river rock and its $25 a ton!)

Then a 1-2" cover of river rock and landscape fabric on top before backfill

that is the first 30 or so feet. have a 100' roll of tile, but wont get to the rest till well into next week with forecast rain. Had to get that first section in so i can finish the new chicken run behind the coupes you see in the pics

That should help give the water a place to go. What is it you are laying on top of the gravel?

its a weed barrier/landscape fabric..... water permeable

I just cut 18" off the end of the 48" roll with my horizontal bandsaw.
