Resurrecting an old post. Trying to be efficient yesterday, mowing (well clearing) an overgrown pasture before it got to hot, I made a decision to just take out a fledgling hedge tree in my path. Heck, it was only about 4 inch diameter and ten feet tall, the FEL protects the radiator, I hunkered down and went over it. Always impressed by the 6 foot BMB monster. She groaned a little bit but ate that hedge tree fairly well. BUT, there was still signs of a tree out there, so on my return pass I decided to go over it again in the other direction
Then ALL fell SILENT. The Kubota
L3240 HST shut down and flashed ERROR 20, WHAT is that supposed to mean??
Luckily I store a copy of my manual behind the seat, I pulled it out and it said,
Error 20, Call Kubota.
Geez, I am about as far from the house as I can get on my property, it is around 10 am and just creeping over 90, and I am STUCK. Well I called Kubota, we had a good laugh, I found a wire unplugged on the right side of the transmission. The wire and connector looked OK, But the piece sticking out of the transmission had taken the deathblow from that hedge tree.
I walked back to the house to get some tools and let the tractor cool off, I knew that pulling that sensor was going to get messy.
I rolled back out on my trusty Honda Forman, laid a tarp out under the tractor so that I would NOT be laying in chigger heaven and removed the sensor. As I laid there trying to catch as much Super UDT in a pan as I could, I attempted to concentrate on not LOOSING anything. But somewhere in the excitement of the UDT shower and the recognition that I had lost the battle for containment, I LOST the fastener.
NOTE to self?
1. STOP trying to mow over trees!.
2. Also do better HANGING on to things in the middle of the pasture!
I was able to order a new sensor (and HOPEFULLY the CORRECT fastener), but it will take a week to get here. Of course, AFTER I took the plunge (literally in the UDT skin conditioner), It HIT me,
IS there a MANUAL OVERIDE to the
L3240 computer?
I think that the sensor that was damaged was for PTO speed. I can see why that would be necessary for computer operation, but is there a manual over-ride that would at least let a person get back to the driveway to make a mess?
Heck it is too HOT to mow now anyway. This is probably some good karma to keep me from playing all week trying to mow when it is too darned hot to be doing stuff like that. But it was AMAZING how fast that tractor shut down. Sure hope that the sensor gets here next week. I am probably going to pull that tractor off the spot with a truck and spend some time looking for that fastener in the next few days.
