Error 83 on a GL3240

Went to get some work done yesterday and had an error pop up on the display. The Error 83 code references to the cruise function. Anyone had this problem before?

I took off the metal cover that is on the cruise and range lever to get at the sensor. If I pull the cruise lever back further than the cover will normally allow it makes the error clear out. I did not try to drive the tractor like this but it would start with no error. Unplugged the sensor and still get the error. Put the cover back on and the tractor starts with this error.

I don't use cruise that much, not at all really so it would not hurt my feelings if it was gone for awhile. Anyway to get the light to stop flashing on the dash it gets annoying to looking at it all day.

I am guessing the sensor has just gone bad. I did not see any way of adjusting its position. Wonder how much that will cost to replace? I guess my tractor did not like getting out of the rain.

I made the mistake of pushing the lever further forward than it normally would go with the cover off and starting the tractor. Got the code 83 error. Once reset and the cover was back on it worked fine again.

It may be possible that the "switch" somehow slipped and is not in the correct position in relation to the lever. Maybe you could remove the cover and move the lever further than normal so the tractor is happy and see if works. Or remove it, looks real easy, and see if everything looks like it's still correctly connected.

I'm guessing that Kubota must have a test to see if it's working correctly in the shop manual. Before buying a new one I would try to verify the one you have is bad. IMO I doubt rain would hurt it.
