I may as well tell the whole story here. Last weekend while mowing my fields I had the regen light come on. This is the first time since last September when I had an issue with the throttle lever potentiometer failing on it. I have put about 80 hours on the tractor since then. I always run it above 2000 RPMS at all times so that the motor is not lugging. I ran the regen cycle and it was back to normal. It was working fine until yesterday when I was out mowing the fields again. I ran it for at least 2 hours before it came on. The regen light came on and I ran the regen cycle again. Within an hour the regen light came back on. I ran the regen cycle again. This time it only stayed running good for about 15 minutes. I gave up for the day and drove it home. I ran the regen cycle one more time and this time it only started the cycle and the engine CEL light came on and the regen cycle ended. I pulled the two sensor probes (exhaust sensors I assume). One is in the DPF muffler and the other is under the turbo in the exhaust manifold. They were both covered in soot deposits. I cleaned them up and put them back in. I got my friend's OBD2 monitor and was able to clear the code. Upon starting the tractor up the regen light came on. I tried to run the regen cycle but couldn't because the CEL light came on too quickly. I kept clearing the CEL light and the regen light kept coming back on. All of a sudden I noticed the ERR 008 code on the hour meter. This is the first time that I have ever seen a code show up there. Does anyone know what this code is? I'd like to know before I have to go borrow a trailer and tow this back to the local dealer which is an hour ride away. TIA guys.

Yeah I used 'start page' search engines and it just exposed a pet peeve of mine.
Other then JD, it seems tractors unlike autos do not have a penchant for divulging OBD codes.
I have a BOCH scanner and tried reading codes on mine and My Wiley does not like BOSCH....lol....
It seems you may have to trailer up to dealer. However a quick call and maybe your dealer can walk you through it.
It may be as simple a clean up of sensors and Key on/off method to reset codes.
Keep us posted.
I've got 375 hours on mine and am prepping tractor and cutter for cutting 10 acres next week about 15 miles from home.
So this may be an anomaly, I get it stuff happens but its good to stay informed.
Have a good weekend.

I tried the disconnect battery trick. The clear the code, key off and back on. I can even clear the code while running and the light goes off and the blinking regen light comes on for about 5 -6 seconds. Then it goes out and the CEL light comes back on. I even had it to tell me the error code again on the hour meter. There are a few guys on here with a manual that have the codes in it.

ERR-008 = no signal at Water IN FUEL Input. Bob

Thanks Bob, I'll check that out tonight when I get home from work.

My brief (and often humbling) time working on vehicles has led me to believe your error code may be a symptom of another issue. I had a CEL on my truck come on that left me stranded across town (1 hour drive to the house). Found it later it was the turbo vane position sensor that had gone out. But....it shared the same circuit as the throttle position sensor, so you had to probe the wires for voltage output to determine which one was the culprite. I'll give you a hint which one it was....the more expensive of the two.

In other words, I don't know that the WIF sensor is the primary culprit. The ECM may be throwing a code based on odd voltages come from another sensor. Electronics are funny that way. I'd call your dealer and ask them about the REGEN cycles, and also mention you have an error code now. It also wouldn't surprise me that the WIF sensor was disconnected, wire broke off, or wasn't making good contact, and that's the cause of your REGEN cycle issues.

Either way, we'd greatly appreciate your follow up with root cause!

I was getting the same 008 code on mine, ended up unplugging the connector at the sensor on the fuel filter and cleaning it.

As for the cel and the regen issues that’s more than likely going to be a complete different issue and you really need to have the codes pulled to see what is going on. Will your friends scanner read them or just let you clear them?

The first couple times the regen light came on was it flashing or steadily lit?

Not to derail the thread, but this brings up a good series of questions. Are there sub-$200 scanners out there that can read the codes? Any other way to read the codes without a scanner? Can anyone link to a listing of what the codes mean?

Thanks!

I’ve not found one that will read the codes, all the codes are in the service manual, and it’s a lengthy list.

It was steady light at first. Now it is blinking all the time. I cannot read the codes but can clear them. The reader says there are no codes after scanning again. It is raing here today so checking the wiring will have to wait.
