Is a Kubota B1750 HSTD to small a tractor to operate a Erskine 601RP snow blower? It would really improve my snow removal capabilities and efficiency if the Erskine snow blower is not to much for my Kubota B1750. I also have a B1640A FEL mounted on the tractor to help with snow removal. We usually get about 130 - 140 inches of snow a season, with 8" - 12" max dry snow during heavy snows.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Thanks, Pike

You do not want to sit side saddle with your left foot on the reverse pedal while you clear the white crap????

You do not want a standard rear mount single Stage or 2 stage in a 48 inch cut?? you will be spending less money and the single stage Meteor will run at almost 600 RPM or more to throw snow a long ways.

I would ask Erskine or the Erskine dealer for a list of people that bought this rear pull snow caster for a tractor of your size and call and ask them how well they like the unit.
If they do not give you a list of buyers to talk to I would not think twice about walking away and buying a single stage Meteor for your mule.
Your talking about a lot of money and a mule that would be limited on power unless you operate the engine at a greater speed.
For the money I would just pick up a new riding lawn mower and a 2 stage front mount on it and buy some chains as you will be out less money but you need to keep more belts on hand as the RAD two stage snow blowers are junk and not built well.

3-Point PTO Rear Pull Snowblower | Snow Equipment | Snowblowers | Tractor Attachments | Erskine Attachments LLC

This seems the current Erskine web page. The 60" model takes 20 to 35 pto hp. Roughly in the 5 hp to the 1' of implement average.

There is a "RP" style blower about 5' for sale local here. I'm afraid it would be too heavy and awkward on a tractor the size of ours. Besides, even being used it is expensive.

Thanks for the info. My Kubota is 20 hp and the pto develops 16.5 hp according to the specs, less than the Erskine needs. I appreciate your time and effort in responding to my questions.

Good idea to talk to an Erskine dealer and request buyer info. I'm not sure if they will provide it or not, but never hurts to ask. I've been able to find a used Erskine 601RP for $3000 asking price, a reasonable price. But it would take another $500 - $1000 to buy parts and set up the hydraulics. Not counting labor, total cost would likely be in the $4,000 range.

Rear mounts, as you say are less expensive and are available in units that would be a better fit for my Kubota. But, like you say, I'm getting old enough that sitting side saddle is not appealing.

Buying a yard tractor with a snow blower is an option I've considered. I'm not really interested in having another piece of equipment to maintain and operate, but it may be my best option.

Thanks for your, time an effort in responding to my post!

Is the Erskine 601RP snow blower too heavy for the 3 pt. on your Kubota B1750 HSTD ?
According to tractordata.com the rear lift capacity for a Kubota B1750 is 827 pounds.
On erskineattachments.com an Erskine 620PR (60" wide) operating weight is 840 pounds,
I could not find the operating weight for a 601RP.

Thanks for the comment on the weight limitations on the Kubota B1750 HSTD.

The info I've found on the 601RP says it weighs the same as the 602RP, 840 lbs. As you say, the 3 point limit on the Kubota is 827 lbs. Kubota probably wouldn't agree that pushing the weight limit to 840 lbs is OK. However, most designers understate the specs of their equipment to allow for error or people like me who might push the limits of the tractor. Possibly the weight of the 601RP could be trimmed to 827 lbs and then it would be within the weight limit of the 3 pt.

Interesting topic

Does Kubota list at what point your 3PH is rated to lift 827 lbs? I.e. at the end of the lift arms or 24 back?

Does your B1750 have enough ground clearance to drive forward through the snow pulling the blower? Reason for asking is that I have a similar size Branson and it spins fairly easily pushing a 54 Blower

oldnslo - good questions! I don't know the answer to your first question and I don't know where I can find that info. But maybe this forum or Kubota will provide it.

Your second question about clearance - I think the Kubota has enough clearance. I will measure it and post my answer.

The Kubota is a 4WD diesel and seems to have good power for a 20 HP compact tractor. I'm also thinking that it will have more power pulling than pushing.

Thanks again and I look for to your additional comments!
