Snow Erskine model 601RP Snowblower

Happy New Year

I have a Montana Model 4944R 47 horse with a Erskine model 601RP pull behind Snowblower. What is the best gear and rpm to use this in. I know it depends on the snow,but what is coming down the pike is not that pretty snow angle type.

Having used a sears garden tractor model for 9 years in North Dakota, its really all up to you. If the unit handles the 540 pto speed, than hang with that; as far as ground speed it is all up to the type of snow, and depth. Wet snow I had to go a lot slower and maintain the output of the chute to a certain visual reference or it would clog. Dry snow was a lot easier and I could go faster.
Its going to be a trial and error for you.

When it comes to snow I'm sure you get a lot more then I do. Yea I recan it is more comon sence then anything else. I guess that was a dumb question.

I know with my 601rp if the snow is wet first pass can be vary slow then I make half passes all at full RPM. This is my first winter with this blower. How long have you had yours and how do you like it?

I bought it after we had record snow 2008 here in North Idaho. Of course last year we recieved hardly any snow. So this year is the first I have used it. I dug it in the first time and ended up with what seemed wet cement. The jury is still out on how much I like it. At least I have it if I need it.

That's pretty wild,I didn't realize we were neighbors I'm in Hauser ID and Purchased the same blower at the same time you did.My son also has one. He is in Spirit Lake. We are both happy with these units. :thumbsup:

I hope I will as happy as you are. Somebody made money off us that year. Since I moved from Sandpoint last year I have less to plow. In Sandpoint I lived in the Selle Valley and had a quarter of a mlie driveway on 15 acres with no protection. So the wind gave me presents all day long. It was pretty but I do not miss it.
