My wife is a PE for a small surveying and engineering firm.

Every now and then she comes home with some useful info.

Thought id share this tidbit.

Estimated costs for Livestock fencing. These numbers were revised back in 2005 so add a bit i suppose but it will at least get you ballpark.

the highlights (price per foot)

woven wire fence 1.51
5 strand barb wire 1.23
8 strand high tensile non-electic 1.12
5 strand high tensile electric .70
2 strand electric polywire .21

all the details are in the PDF http://www.extension.iastate.edu/Publications/FM1855.pdf

prices include everything you need, large corner posts, small posts, T posts, staples, labor etc.

Electrified wire also includes energizer cost.

Also included in the PDF is yearly maintenance cost ranges from .26/ft for woven fence to .09/ft for 5 strand electric

That sounds pretty consistent with prices in my area. We have recently gotten estimates to replace an 1/8 mile of fence damaged by loggers. For 4' woven wire, 1 strand of barb wire, 6' T post on 12' centers, wood field post and corners our estimates have been $2.00 per foot material and $2.00 per foot labor.
