Tractor
4110 JD
I am home sick today, I own my own business and have not missed a day of work for over 10 years. My wife said to me stay home get some rest. That’s what I am doing. But about an hour ago the new neighbor rang the doorbell, said he notice I was home. He is having 4 yards of cement coming today and the truck can not make it up to the back of the house. He wanted to know if I would use my 4110 Jd to haul it around back for him.
So can a person stay home sick from coughing and sneezing but sneak out to get some tractor time. The soul is strong the body weak. I am thinking the sun and warm weather would be good for me.

This is kind of like when I was small and I stayed home from school but I was sick and wanted to go out and play and my mother made me stay in bed. The only difference is now going out side is to play on a big green toy, and now its my wife telling me to stay in bed. Well she is working and I am home alone, no one will know. Sounds like play time to me.

I can rest later.

There certainly is a benefit of "tractor therapy",
and maybe it's just what you needed today!
Gets your mind off work, and driving around on your
tractor is far from overdoing it, unless you decide
to help shovel and screet the cement around!
enjoy your day off!

Ethics would depend on why you stayed home. If you stayed home so you didn't have to work, then NO, you shouldn't be out playing. If you stayed home so you would not infect your co-workers with whatever vile germ liked you this week, then YES it should be ok. Here at Oregon State, we are very short handed, so if someone comes to work sick, they will be the only one at work the next week. So the general rule is stay home. Plenty of time I felt well enough to work, but the chance of draging the rest of the department down was too high.

If you are self employed and you hurt yourself can you file a workers compensation claim for the injury and sue yourself

You have good point, I have often thought of that and if I quit or get fired can I claim unemployment. I am a one-man company with independent agents that work on commission only. This is my 1st year working on my own after 35 years as a family office, after the death last year of the only other employee, things have changed a lot. 1st is I am going to take my 1st vacation since 1979. Going to my river cabin and play on my tractor, a lot. Maybe even cook a few steaks. Then more tractor play.

A post note, the concrete never came and they are at this point hand mixing the job. I want no part of that. I would have been glad to use the tractor and help while on the seat of the tractor.

I am back at work while only out 8 hours of work. The only thing that kept me entertained while sick with this web site.

Well even though the dilemna is now over, you should have also considered risking exposing your neighbor and the cement crew to your recent illness and thus impacting two other businesses!
