Finally located a source for etholal free gasoline in my area, popped for a wheeled gasoline caddy from Northern Tool and am about to treat the eleven or so small engines around here to a new healthy diet.
Now, the sixty four $$ question: What exactly is the storage life of ethonal free gasoline? Should I continue to use Stabol or Seafoam? Any other tidbits of barnyard wisdom?
No doubt these questions have been addressed in the past but since i致e Not had good luck with the 壮earch function and it痴 colder than a well diggers dinner bucket this morning it seems like a good shop day working on equipment.

John, I worked as a mechanic in a marine shop X years ago and while there, learned the attributes of SeaFoam. Today we add it in all fuels that won't be used with the week. I won't touch that stabol product.

Results may vary, but:
If it's stored in a cool dry place, in a full and or sealed container (with little air), that is: in a place where the temperature (and atmospheric pressure) variations doesn't cause the container to "breath", that is: where it doesn't draw in moist air that cools/condenses water into the mix, I think you should be good for a year if not a lot more. Others will disagree.

A co-worker gave me an old Montgomery Ward saw. I think it had been in his fathers or grandfathers garage for over a decade, if not more.
You know where this story is going right......? Yep, fiddled around with it, maybe a new plug, cleaned air filter, etc... A few pulls and a lot of smoke later it started right up.

I asked coworker when he had swapped the gas out of it after getting it from his father? Nope, he didn't!

Stabil works. I have used it for many years, in off road motorcycles, outdoor power equipment and generators. The gas does eventually go stale, it just takes longer. The generator has a metal fuel tank and the gas that sits in it all summer is still good the next winter when outages start again. Fuel in plastic tanks does not last as long as the plastic breathes slightly.

I use ethanol free gas in everything including my truck and car. For the small engines I add Stabil, but usually rotate the 1-2 gallon containers into the vehicles if they happen to set for 3-4 months. I had engines set outdoors for several months with this treated gas, and they still fire right up. But I always leave the tanks full after any usage. :2cents:
Cheers,
Mike

I generally use stalbil but I also add 2 stoke synthetic oil to it.
For the 4 stroke engines use about half the 50-1 ratio or 100-1
I don't know for sure if it helps but it seems like it does. The 50-1 two stroke
mix seems to stay good or quite awhile and I notice less carburetor issues with it.

My gas rider I use to trim with starts every spring and I just fill the tank in the fall and park it.
My sander engine sits all summer and it starts in the winter.
I also use the expensive high test ethanol free gas.

I store gas treated with Stabil for 2 years before cycling it into our cars. My storage container is a full 55g drum stored in a shed.
I suspect partially empty containers would cause fuel to degrade faster.

So I looked at the 99$ caddy to see what you bought. Is that the one? Let us know how it works out.

I know people that use unleaded aviation gasoline, both 94 and 100 octane. Someone that works on engines says this could be a bad practice because the high energy could break the crankshafts. Anybody heard of this??
