Hi all, I'm building a quick attach system for my tractor, and I'm basically using the same method as Euro/Global as I like how it functions.
(Ya I know why not SS? My choice, I'm going custom made by me because it'll be lighter and I already have everything I want so not likely to rent an SS attachment.)
What I need to know/see is aside from the 2 top hooks and the 2 "eye-bolt" on the bottom of what ever attachment (Bucket for example) I would like to see said - Bucket for example - if and where it bottoms out onto the receiving quick attach. OR does it not bottom out and is the Bucket simply help by the 4 points mentioned above?

I've been looking at pictures and videos but I haven't found anything that shows an attachment mated onto the quick attach close up to show that detail. If anyone has a Euro/Global quick attach and can post up a couple pics that would be great! (Or if anyone has a link to such pic's I haven't found yet! Lol)

Thanks!
E.

Hello E.

I'll see what pictures and info I have about the Euro quick attach as it was what I used on my homemade loader. I did use most of standard dimensions, expect for one, the vertical distance between the bottom pin to the top hook. I made it shorter because it looked weird being so tall as the drawing said.

I'll update this later on.

Ok, here is what I have.

I have a drawing with the dimensions. I used the bottom one, the Euro style.

And some pictures of my loader:

This is some of what I have. Let me know if this helps you or if you need anything from another angle or something. I can take some more pictures tomorrow if you need.

I used to use Stoll loaders with euro hitch. The bucket is only held in by the 2 hooks (top) and locked on by the 2 (lower) pins.

On the Stoll loaders the lower pins are greasable, I could not see if you added zerks or not.
A neat and tidy job, well done.

Thanks guys!
Ptsg - on your bucket you've got what looks like a bumper - does that make\stay in contact once it's attached? I see on the forks it looks like the only points of contact are the 4 connect points?

Redman135 - so like above the only contact points are the 4 mount points? Ya I was thinking of putting grease zeros on, not overly difficult to do and much better way of getting some lubrication going.

I've also been debating how fat to make those 4 connection points, most I've seen don't seem to be very wide at all. I was going to make them a couple inches wide but I'm guessing that might be complete overkill given my loader is only rated to lift 1,100lbs.

So, the hooks on top just sit on the round bar. The bottom eyes/tabs is where the pins go through. Then I added two hard stops (one per side), the function of the hard stops is to hit the quick attach frame so the holes on the eyes/tabs will get perfectly centered with the pins.

Doing this way, makes it much easier to connect, otherwise you would need to manually move the attachment, while also moving the locking lever and hopefully you can the right spot till the pins go in. Would be a very hard task to do.

Hopefully I explained this in an easy way to understand. Another advantage, although not sure if matters or not, is that I can release the pins even if I had a load on the forks or bucket. Basically those pins rarely get any load, usually only with applying downforce.

On the forks, I do have the hard stops too but I didn't on a different way. With the forks, I had to make the lower eyes longer so it would give me enough roll back with the loader sitting near the ground level.

Oh, and yes, I did add the grease zerks on the lower pins.

Thanks, yes that all makes total sense. I've got a lot of it built, I was debating about the hard stop option but ya makes sense. I'll set it up so whatever is attached will bottom out and then the pins can slide thru with no resistance. The only time the pins take force is say back dragging with the bucket.
Looking forward to getting it done, been a to do thought for ages! I'm tired of pulling pins and manhandling stuff to switch things up!

That's it!

If you want to get fancy, you simply add a 12v linear actuator directly to the lever and you don't even need to leave the seat to change attachments, unless it requires connecting hydraulic lines. I've been planning with the idea of adding one on my setup.

Besides the Euro style being more common in Europe, I find it to be easier to connect, safer and lighter yet stronger than the SSQA. This thing provides a positive lock to the attachment, instead of relying on the tight fit between some on angles to keep the attachment in place.

The weight issue was a big one that took me to building my own system given my tractor is small and I don't want to loose any more lifting capacity then I need to. Plus I think once it's done my bucket won't sit any further away from the arms than when pinned on. Again helping with lifting capacity. Lastly I've got basically all the attachments that I'm going to use on the loader, modifying them to add the 4 connection points will be simple. If I really needed to connect something that uses ssqa (Can't see that happening!) I could make an adapter plate which would allow me to connect to any ssqa attachment I suppose. And hey I like building stuff, not that I'm an expert. Great way to learn things.
Oh and the other thing is the newer version of my tractor does come with ssqa but to do it they changed the bucket to have a flat back vs mine is round. So for me to be able to hook my bucket up means the ssqa plate would force the bucket to be further forward. Not ideal at all. Or replace the bucket with a current one at huge cost. That was actually one of the big driving forces to make my own system.
I'll consider adding a linear actuator at some point but no rush for that. It's not a priority as I'll mostly be switching between bucket and brush bucket with hydraulic thumb so I'm dealing with the hydraulics most times anyway. Although the idea of hitting a switch is a fun idea! :)
