Need some direction, this seems harder than it should be.

I was disconnecting the mower from the tractor this weekend when I noticed a portion of the drive shaft connecting the mower to the pto shaft was exposed. Somehow a portion of the protective cover dissapeared, presumably while mowing.
This is a two piece shaft that slides together as this finish mower "floats" on swivels behind the tractor. If I recall the guard or cover was a similar design that alowed for changing length or distance between the two machines. It is a mustard brown color and so far I am unable to determine what I need and where I need to go to get it. I would like to fix this device properly as without it, dirt and debris will quickly enter and stick to the lubricant preventing smooth operation and eventually cause something catastophic to occur.
Has anyone experienced this? Can you offer any advice or direction?
I have searched the internet and altough I was able to get the name of this device, I am unable to located parts other than the entire shaft, complete with the guard about 100-200$. I'd much rather locate an eploded view of the guard and get the missing parts or just get a new guard or cover.

It may have just come loose and slid back a ways. It's a snap-in-place design that's pretty hard to break. Each tube is affixed to its respective shield (the bell-shaped thing at each end) with a hidden collar. You might be able to just snap yours back together. If you're unsure how it reassembles, Eurocardan has documentation covering all their products on the Italian website.

Thanks
I'll take another look at it when I get home. If I have more questions I'll post some pictures, they say it's worth a thousand words.

I have lost a section of a eurocardan cover from my small RCutter where the cover, but not the shaft, would hit the front edge of the cutter when it was raised up all the way. It just wore a slot right through the cover. This was on an 8N w/an over-run coupler (extending further out than usual) so the shaft angle was less than optimal.

I haven't found replacements either so maybe someone will have a source.

" I would like to fix this device...."
What kind of catastrophic event could occur?

When these covers start moving in unintended places, their lifespan is demonstrably shortened. Once you lose the protective tubes and/or shrouds, getting tangled up in the underlying mechanicals can cost you a limb - or worse

You were right, it had come loose somehow. I put everything back the way it belongs. Turns out i have a "eurocardan series 4 cover". I was able to find detailed instructions complete with photo's courtesy of King Kutter. Seems like most or all of there pto driven machines have a manuel in .pdf format on the net. That's where I got the info.
Here the instructions for reference.
EUROCARDAN SERIES 4
1) First you must locate the black tab (D in FIG. 3) put flat screwdriver in slot in end of tab and turn until the flat side is pointing towards center of shaft. Once you do this take the thin flat screwdriver and put into slot labeled (E in FIG. 3) pry tab all the way out as shown in (FIG. 3)
2). There are 3 white tabs around the cover as shown in (G in FIG. 4). You must line up cover slots and tabs (as shown in FIG. 4, F & G) Take a screwdriver and press against the tabs one at a time with downward angular pressure to-ward the end of shaft. As you are pressing tab grasp cover and apply pressure against cover in the direction of arrow, (H in FIG-3) do this for each tab. (Sometimes the other tabs may relock, if they do you must repeat unlock proce-dure.) You will feel it click when the tab releases, after all 3 tabs are released you can slide the cover down the shaft in direction of (H in FIG. 3).
3) To put cover back into place slide cover back toward end (be sure tabs and slots line up) until all the tabs relock. (You may have to tap lightly with screwdriver or hammer handle). Once they have relocked replace black tab that was removed with flat side toward shaft center then turn flat side up to lock in place.
