Great picture slamfire. Do you suppose the little guy was day-dreaming of tractors while he should have been paying attention to details? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Did you report the accident to OSHA?? You might want to do that. I hear out in Michigan the DNR is after the little varmits and havn't been able to fine them yet for building illegal dams!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That is what happens when you go after a birch tree. There are to few of them left and the penalty is death if you are caught cutting one down. Serves the guy right. You do the deed and you do the time. In his case, he paid the ultimate penalty! Must have been in Texas.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That looked like a gray birch almost rotted through.

I did some research on beavers after finding some activity along Ivy Creek a couple years ago. Seems they don't know which direction the tree will fall when they gnaw it. Sometimes, there's a group of them. One will fall a tree on a buddy.

Took my Computers4Kids guy down to the dam. We sat there a spell. He claims to have seen one entering their "apartment" underneath the edge of the creek. The entrance was under water.

The vacant property that joins ours has for years had nothing more than a swampy area on it that wasn't much deeper than twelve inches. This past summer I noticed that the marsh was now about 4 to 5 feet deep and a lot larger than ever before. The wife and I while hiking observed a good sized dam built by the critters, and lots of evidence of cut trees. We have not spotted the beavers yet but their handiwork is really amazing to say the least. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you think his wife caught him cheeting on her and she dropped it. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I seen what the little creatures can do also, destroy good woods in a matter of no time. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

One of my neighbors who has 5 ponds on his 160 acres lost about 10 acrea of woods in a few months. Needless to say they were thined out.
