I think I have narrowed my selection between an Everride Hornet 52 inch and a Hustler Fastrack 54 inch. I can get either for about the same price. Note that I am looking at the Fastrack, not the Fastrack Superduty, can't justify the extra thousand. The Everride comes with a Kaw. 23 hp, seperate pumps and wheel motors, 23x10.5-12 drive tires and a full suspension seat. The Fastrack comes with a Kaw. 21 hp, integrated pumps and motors and 18x9.5-8 drive tires. Both appear very well built. Both dealers appear to be good, although until you have a service call it is hard to tell. I am leaning toward the Everride because I think I am getting more for my dollar. Any comments appreciated.

Don't know much about those models. However, separate pumps/motors are better, bigger motor with very reliable Kaw engine and bigger tires seems to give the nod to Everride. I thought at one time Everride was in bankruptcy and they did have a factory in Auburn NE. ? Is this an older unit?

Not sure of the manufacturers date but it has less than one hour on the meter. The dealer also has an Everride 48 inch deck with a B&S ELS 25 hp engine for $1,000 less than the 52 inch model. Everything else on the 48 inch mower is the same, same pumps and motors, same deck, same tires, etc. I would like comments on what people think about if the $1,000 for the Kaw over the ELS and the 4 inch wider cut is worth it. How about for resale value?

The $1000 extra would be worth it for the Kaw and the extra cut width... don't hesitate on this issue, you will regret it a few years down the road. If I were you, I would somehow find the way to go the extra $1000 for the Fastrack Superduty... that puts you on a true commercial quality mower with excellent warranty and manufacturer support.

I would guess the Everride will have lower resale value because it is less widely known.
IMHO, the Kawasaki motors are very reliable and probably one of the best, if not the best, gas motors on the market. I used to believe Honda was the best, but now I would say Kaw.

Thanks for all the comments. I ended up purchasing an Everride Hornet 48 inch w/ a 19 hp Kaw. engine from a private party. The mower only has 5.5 hours on it and has never cut grass. He purchased it at a local auction and I know that there is no warranty but I only paid $3,600. The machine is in like new condition and runs great.

Ariens bought the company. Auburn Consolidated Industries was the parent of both Great Dane and Everride. Great Dane/Everride/ACI also made mowers for Gravely and JD. Now carries the name as Auburn Operations of Ariens. Some units carry a warranty and others built before the shutdown and purchase by Ariens do not. Dealer here has a brand new GD Super Surfer still in the crate.
