here is a better option and half the money:

Bush- Hog

I notice they say it will handle up to 4" stuff, but the video only shows it mowing light brush  I want to see it doing serious work, not mowing grass.

These things are versatile, but progress looked very slow. even with light brush. I would wonder about the real work capacities of anything that was designed to work on really small mini excavators. I suspect it would only be efficient in a very small niche.

Let us know if you get one

I have a Yanmar VIO 27. It is small. I really don't want to do large jobs. I want it for me to use and do small jobs to off set the cost. I am thinking pond banks and ditches. I am thinking about cutting honeysuckle and cat tails. If I were to use it on " trees" they would be small brush type things. I figure that if they are saying 4" I should be good with 2" and down.

Probably would be fine for ponds and ditches. Most of those that we do are large brush with the occasional 4"-5" tree mixed in. Take the size the manuf claims with a grain of salt.

I can't say on this particular implement, but on regular rotary cutters I've done at least what they claim it can handle. My Brush Monster for the skid steer claims 4" and I've done it although it's a bit slow.

Years ago when I first got started, a friend told me that I could mow anything I could driver the tractor over. Well, I disagree: I back the tractor/cutter over things that I won't driver over! (Woods medium duty MD72 that I've been using for ten years now).

I've got a flail for my Takeuchi tb138. The 138 weighs 8300 lbs and has 15.6gpm aux flow. The mower is made by USMower, it's 30in wide. For certain types of terrain it is really useful. I'll try to post some of my videos.

Just keep in mind that the 4" tree they speak of would be measured at the the ground , people make the mistake of thinking the tree is 4" at eye level .

Nice video, thanks for sharing. It looks very effective (in time lapse, LOL). Fortunately, my KX-121 mini does not have a cab so I will NOT be tempted to spend all that money :(

Trailmaker-

What kind of camera did you use for the time lapse?

Yes in real time it's much slower of course and makes a boring video. On flat ground there are far more productive setups but the excavator flail can get spots where other setups can't reach. Cab is a must, it's saved me from flying debris and angry yellow jackets. That kx 121 looks like a nice machine. Do you have the six way blade? Any issues with your machine so far?

It's a little Cannon powershot, nothing fancy. I had the camera for a couple of years before I even realized it had a time lapse function. It's fun to mess around with for sunsets and equipment videos.

I have the 4 way blade. Love it, very good machine. The 4 way blade is great!

The only problem I've had is when I was working in the woods and swung the boom around and hit a tree at just the wrong point and broke a hydraulic coupling :( I just use it around the farm here.

One of these days, I'm going to have to sit down and read the manual. :confused2: I have a Powershot too and I'm amazed at the picture quality. It actually does better than my Nikon digital SLR that's a couple of years old. It takes decent movies too. We had thought about a movie camera for our travels but I've found that the Canon does a good job without having to lug around a second camera.

They take a lot of power. I've installed a few of these BMS-L - SEPPI M. . I know, it's a lot bigger unit but the same principal. They'll cut and mulch like you wouldn't believe but the power they require is unreal. Look at the specs on this one, 250 bar (3600psi) at 46-135 lpm (12-36gpm).
I really can't see that unit being any good for other than grass. We use a somewhat similar setup for mowing the grass in the median, a 5 gang mower towed with a tractor. Just my 2 cents worth.....Mike
