My son turned me on to this product. It is a fiberglass type tape saturated with a water setting resin. I don't know if the woven fibers are fiberglass or Kevlar or whatever. I have bought the stuff at Ace hardware. To use you open the package, soak the tape in water, and then wrap around the handle of the tool you are repairing. Disposable gloves should be worn. About 6 or 7 years ago I damaged the fiberglass handle of a nice, heavy duty, and expensive shovel. I hit the handle about 1 inch above where it goes into the ferrule that holds the handle to the shovel. The handle was cracked and crushed. I wrapped the tape around the ferrule and on up over the handle for about 8 inches. The tape shows no signs of degrading to this day and the shovel gets used hard. The stuff is similar to the tape used to make casts for broken limbs and may in fact be the same stuff. It sets hard, sets quickly, and is very durable. I don't remember the brand name but it was still for sale last summer at my local Ace hardware so I imagine it still is. Ace now has J B Weld brand tape that appears to be the same stuff as it is water setting, comes with gloves too. Here's a link: J-B Weld FiberWeld High Strength Epoxy Adhesive Black Permanent Fabric Adhesive 1 pc Mfr# 38263 - Ace Hardware
Anyway, good stuff, and Ace pays me 100 Lebanese Pounds for every sale. I don't know how they can afford that because the stuff sells for only 15 bucks. I guess they make it up in volume. Make sure you tell 'em Eric sent ya so that I can get my money. All joking aside I have found this repair tape very useful as has my son.
