Expedient tractor stabilizers for lifting heavy and high FEL loads?
In the next week or two, I'll be picking up, transporting and lifting into final position another one of my deer shooting houses. While this one isn't as heavy as the last one - requiring my neighbor's 100 hp tractor, I want the final lift to be as safe as possible.
Basically, I'll be lifting a 6'x8' deer shooting house about 10' in the air so I can install 10' 4x4 posts under it. I want to ensure the tractor doesn't fall over due to the heavy weight that is high up at the same time.
Things I've done or plan to do to make it as safe as possible:
- Rear tires loaded with RV AF and water
- 500 lbs of steel, lead and concrete rear wheel weights
- Add my +450 lb weight block to the rear half of my 1000 lb 286 Bushhog as a 3ph counterweight.
What I'd like to know is if anyone has ever come up with expedient and temporary tractor stabilizers that could be easily attached and then deinstalled when the lift was over? The tractor would be stationary during this time (except for the FEL). Where the lift will occur is fairly flat.
Basically, I need to put something like this 10' into the air - as safely as possible:
