Having decided to relocate and enlarge my well pump house I am trying to figure out how best to provide electricity inside the shed. Currently my pump is powered from an outside breaker box connected directly to the meter. It is a 200-amp main service so I have plenty of capacity so here are my options as I see them. I can run conduit from the existing CB panel and run individual 12/3 wires inside the shed for lights, pumps, filtration and heat. OR, I can run a 60-amp 6/3 wire inside the shed into another breaker box and distribute from there. In either case the conduit/wire length from the outside to the inside of the shed will be <20'.
All things considered I would prefer to have a separate CB box inside the shed but would like to hear your opinions. I understand local code dictates but what would be considered best practice for this type of hook-up?
