Heck they even work on different brands. My Kubota B3030 & NH TC18 use the same key!

any flat head screwdriver works as a key in my tractor.

Been there, done that! I usually just leave my key in the ignition, and was frustrated to find a friend had removed it after we were doing some work together. The screwdriver worked just fine on my TC33D... as will anything that fits in the slot and is strong enough to turn the switch.

I think it might be time for someone to make a crazy finger-print reader for starting a tractor! No more using a screw driver... Just press thumb and BINGO, clatter-clatter... you're runnin!

I'm one of the people that thinks that tractor keys should be like automobile keys. All cut different. I know and understand somewhat the reason that they make the keys the way they do, but don't like it. Something that I have been seeing more and more the last few years makes even less since to me than a universal key does and that is attaching the key so that it can't be removed from the tractor. When my in-laws bought they new tractor about two years ago, the dealer had even attached the key with a small cable around the steering column. The cable is just long enough so that the key can be put into the ignition and turned.

Went to local hardware store and had three extra keys for my 1991 Ford 3930 cut, all worked - no problem for $1.25 each.
