I was wondering if anyone has added lights to their 2230? I have the front mounted snowblower on mine and it sometime interferes with the headlights on my tractor. I assume that this is also a problem with the front end loader. I was thinking about putting them onto the rollbar but would like to get opinions from those who may have already done this. Thanks...

Many have mounted extra lights. Most say you can't run the OEM lights plus additional ones without the heavy duty alternator (optional).

If you post that you are drilling your ROPS to mount the lights, hundreds like me will write back that dire things will befall you and your Bota. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif So if you are gonna drill, just don't tell us or post pics of it.

I found some past articles in the archives on how others have done it. I have to be honest, I agree with those that say a few 1/4" holes shouldn't affect the integrity of the ROPS. People still jack up their trucks, cheat on their taxes, eat foods high in fat and cholestoral, and jaywalk in traffic, so if I affect the integrity of my ROPS so be it (besides, my property is flat, so I have that in my favor), hey that's just my two cents, love it or hate it, lol... thanks again guys...

Before adding lights I would experiment with locations by taking an actual light and temporarily mounting it in the different locations you are thinking of. I was also looking to add lights to my BX because when the FEL was up in a travel position I could not see where I was going. I thought about mounting up on the ROPS but after experimenting decided I did not want the lights right behind my head where they would shine directly in my face ocassionally - where they would attract bugs and contribute to glare when it was raining or snowing out. In general I think mounting lights directly behind your head is a bad idea.

For use with a snowblower maybe some lights mounted on the front similar to way lights are mounted on pickup truck plow frames might be an idea to experiment with.

Just food for thought ...
Front bugeyes mounted to my hoodtop carryall. I used standard tractor add-on lights and run them instead of the factory BX headlights. Very pleased with the height of them and the ability to rotate them slightly outwards for a wider flood of light.

More food for more thought ...
ROPS mounted police-style spotlight. I replaced the spot bulb with a flood bulb for better coverage. Hopefully you can imagine how dang handy this light is !!!
Cheers!

Here is how I did it. These are 35 watts each and run just fine on the OEM dynamo. I can turn one to the front and one to the rear if needed, or both in either direction. Clean install and very functional. ROPS is plenty strong to handle the drilling, too.

Man, ROP light threads are everywhere. Time for my story.

I have a BX23 with a heavy-duty alternator. I got one official Kubota worklight. It looks neat, but is functionally gutless. I think it's 35W.

I installed 10ga primary wire up the ROP in wire loom and installed a fused car lighter receptacle near the worklight. Wanted a little flexibility to use it for worklight, spotlight, hazard flasher, percolator, whatever. Might even stick a lighter in there.

The lighter came with double-stick tape on it. I used that plus a couple of nylon ties over the mounting ears.

The worklight I am using is a Peterson 4x6 55W magnetic mount model. I got it at Northern Tool work light

I realize this is rather quick and dirty, but I am amazed how good it works. The light pattern is perfect and (obviously) easy to adjust.

No holes in the ROPS at all.

Attached photo is of the wire loom and receptacle next to the Kubota light. Loom is fat here because of the fuse.
