Extra Tool Box:

Ordered a replacement tool box from dealer....drilled two 1/2" holes in it on back side......then drilled tubing that runs across the right hand step....and tapped the two holes for 7/16" x 14 threads....bolt.....had to use 3-4 washers between the box and the frame , so that the lid would open....works great!....
and is not in the way attall...can still use step and top is about even with floor mat......
This set up is much more convenient than toolbox behind the seat.....as for drilling and tapping the holes, it doesn't weaken the framework.......at all......if anything will make it stronger.....Mike

Hello Matt: I like it great so far!.....probably got around 60 hours on it ....already did the 50hour service.....Have used the backhoe,FEL, Post Auger, sprayer , and brushhog......still having trouble shearing pins, only when I make a turn....(maybe the PTO shaft is too long?).....
It worked great on other tractor I had a MF 1085..., problems really started when I used it on the DK55......
Haven't had any real problems with the tractor....it sticks to hillsides very well...
is nice to drive...canopy is neat....has plenty of power....(haven't tried plowing yet)....bought a set of MF 3-bottom 14" Beam type plows....
oh yeah I got a box scraper (7') and it works great.....
Tool box is a little unhandy being behind the seat,but with the other box onside of platform,it will be okay....just need somewhere to put a thermo and lunch box.......
Have to keep a sharp eye on all connections on 3pt hitch and adjustments...will either bolt these or use cotter pins or whatever......not a big deal.....
ordered a service manual, the owners manual is skimpy on directions and info..
also funny sounding.....when I read it.....
But it is a very well built tractor,better than others that i looked at....
No regrets on going with Kioti!!......
Still think it is the best buy for money.......
and hope it will last me for many many years......Mike

Hey Mike, glad to hear your happy with your Dk55. They sure look like a nice machine. Our local highway departments have a Dk55 and Dk45 along with some other brands that have been busy all summer brush hoggging all the medians in the capital district ( Albany ) . Those machines have been very busy. Matt

I am not too familiar with the DK55 but is the tool box the same as the CK models? Being about an inch deep so you can't even put the little PTO cover in there? If so, I would bet you could have had someone's for free after they put a larger box in the stock location.

HighBeam: Not sure about the toolbox on the CK30's.....never seen one or didn't pay any attention to it....
The one on the DK55 is behind the seat,a little bothersome to get to....but good for storage.......
I mounted a replacement one above the step on the right side..the top is slightly higher than platform floor...but it goes from the right rear fender to the upright where the glass is....It is almost completely out of the way..one could stand on it or use it as a step....
Now for the size....
15" long
4-3/8" wide
from 3"to 4-3/8"deep
the bottom slopes.....
also has two places to put springs on lid to keep it closed...
One behind the seat has 2 and I think that I will take one off and put it on the extra toolbox.......
